Child life specialists collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to achieve the needs of each patient through developing and implementing interventions to help patients and their families cope with their hospital experience. The use of developmentally appropriate play and therapeutic activities allows for psychosocial development and normalization of the hospital environment. Hourly Range: $23.96 - $38.34 Essential Duties and Responsibilities Demonstrates developmentally appropriate knowledge and skills necessary to assess and interact with a diverse population of pediatric patients and their families. Designs and implements individual interventions based on assessment of a patient's development, coping style, diagnosis/ treatment, and psychosocial supports. Uses medical play and developmentally appropriate language and teaching tools to ensure adequate preparation for medical interventions and encourage understanding and mastery of diagnosis, medical care and experiences. Uses therapeutic/diversional techniques to support patients during treatments and procedures. Provides developmentally appropriate play and activities to support normal growth and development. Communicates pertinent information concerning patient care at appropriate rounds, with the multidisciplinary team and documentation in patient's' medical record. Provides bereavement resources and memory making throughout hospital including but not limited to: pediatric units, labor and delivery, neonatal intensive care unit, pediatric and adult emergency departments, and adult intensive care units. Genesis & Pearl Street Genesis and Pearl Street residences offer a group home environment which provides a high level of support for people in the earliest stages of recovery. The overall goal is to provide short-term, focused skill development in a home-like setting. The first step in treatment is defining and developing a rehabilitation plan which aids a person's movement to the next stage in their recovery. This individualized, highly detailed plan clarifies needs, charts a course of action and provides the framework to evaluate progress. Services available to residents include crisis intervention, rehabilitation counseling, social and living skills development (money management, personal hygiene, food preparation, meal planning, recreation activities, etc.), symptom and medication management, community integration and resource development. On duty around the clock staff work closely with each resident to maximize stability and help in the transition to a less restrictive environment. Longer term assistance is available for people with problems preventing them from living outside a group setting. Community Living Apartments The Community Living Apartments Program offers two types of living arrangements: Maple Street and Satellite apartments. Both include support and guidance through individualized service plans created in partnership with the service recipient. Services are a continuation and expansion of those services provided in the Community Residences and carry the ultimate goal of achieving an independent, successful life for each resident. General Description Provide clinical recovery services to Persons in the DMH funded Adult Community Clinical Services program as part of the Integrated Care Team. Also classified as a Licensed-Practitioner of the Healing Arts (when applicable), this Clinician will lead clinical teams to develop comprehensive assessments and treatment plans that encourage Persons to gain skills to transition through level of services towards self-sufficiency. Essential Job Functions Provide short term individual and group counseling services Attend all transitional and clinical treatment meetings in the community (enrollment, intake, discharge, transfer, DMH, BH CP, etc.). Develop and monitor transition plans to support Persons experiencing life changes. Provide clinical oversight to Persons on the Integrated and GLE teams Meet the documentation of program standards (ACA, Treatment Plans, Quarterly/Annual Reviews, Assessments, referrals), completing all necessary paperwork as required through the ACCS and BH CP programs.
