Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree. Education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Degree will be verified.
Documentation of a successfully completed 600-hour internship supervised by a Child Life Specialist
Child Life Certification from Association of Child Life Professionals (ACLP) is required within 15 months of hire.
Experience with pediatric patients in a medical, hospital or behavioral health setting
Experience in Child Life Core Competencies which include but are not limited to 1) Establishing supportive relationships 2) Meeting needs of child and family members, with a focus on social, emotional, and cognitive development. 3) Providing education to and communicating with children, families, and team members 4) Providing coping support and comfort management 5) Guiding children in therapeutic play techniques 6) Ongoing assessment and written documentation of clinical care

Position Summary
The primary therapist role provides clinical services for teens in an acute psychiatric hospital setting by combining group therapy and acute stabilization in a trauma-informed environment. Caseload will consist of adolescents, ages 12 through 18, who are struggling with issues such as depression, suicidal ideation, anxiety, drug and alcohol abuse, and trauma. The primary therapist will be a critical component of a multi-disciplinary treatment team aimed at stabilizing clinically complex adolescents and providing support to the adolescent's family.
Key Responsibilities
Performs a biopsychosocial assessment of patients and families within seven days of admission.
Provides psychiatric diagnoses for each patient on his/her caseload, utilizing the most current best practice.
Creates and adjusts an individualized master treatment plan for each of his/her patients.
Works in conjunction with direct care staff to help patients complete therapeutic assignments.
Instructs co-workers on psychiatric disorders, common symptoms, and therapeutic techniques as assigned by the Clinical Director.
Aids in crisis intervention outside of regularly scheduled therapy sessions.
Participates and contributes to the collection of treatment outcomes in a timely manner.
Participates in the clinical team's on-call rotation. Is responsive to parents and staff as needed while on call.
Communicates to educational consultants on a weekly basis or as requested by the consultant.
Coordinates aftercare and transition plans with parents, treatment team, educational consultants, and outside agencies as needed.

Complete charting for each client weekly (individual sessions, therapeutic process group note, family therapy, additional groups facilitated).
Responsible to be on-call one week per month from Monday-Sunday after hours for client crisis and consultation

Strong clinical and interpersonal skills, ability to lead and direct the work of others, and excellent written and verbal communication skills
