(Emergency teams may evacuate the PRT system, remove injured persons, perform first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, perform extensive repairs to structure, electric power distribution system, electronic control and communications system and the guideway heating system * Inspects, monitors and secures PRT buildings and passenger stations (opens and closes stations for passenger service) * Support the collection of money from PRT fare gates * Routinely communicates with other PRT personnel (Central Control and Maintenance) via handheld portable radio. Note: At times communications may be of an emergency nature * Participates in vehicle and guideway de-icing activities (requires the use of specialized equipment and procedures) * Operates overland motor vehicles * Operates specially equipped (jeep type 4 wheel drive standard transmission) motor vehicle within the confines of the PRT guideway * Provides general labor as assigned (digging, shoveling, lifting, carrying, etc.) * Performs painting activities * Drives overland response vehicles to transport personnel and equipment * Accounts of all employee hours and materials used * Performs snow removal from PRT guideway and equipment * As assigned, supports PRT operation for special events (football, basketball, concerts, etc.) * Attends training sessions as assigned * Responsible for assigned keys and the access they provide * As assigned, performs light maintenance as necessary within the PRT system, including: * Service light equipment such as portable generators (changing oil) * Check bulbs and replace as needed * Inspects ladders annually * Inspects fencing, gates and performs minor repairs and submits work request if required * Hangs and removes snow fencing annually * As assigned, performs light maintenance and cleaning associated with 73 PRT vehicles and a vast array of associated equipment. This involves tasks such as: * Manually cleaning vehicle interiors and exteriors including waxing * Disabling vehicles at stations as required * Cleans guideway running surfaces, structures and drains * Resetting of vehicle doors and replacing step treads at stations * As assigned, performs custodial services as necessary within the PRT System, including: * Operation of electric polisher, carpet shampooing and high-pressure washer equipment * Cleans passenger station platforms, rooms, fare gates, displays, handrails, windscreens, stairs, lights, etc. * Cleans the office and maintenance areas (includes: vacuum, scrub, strip, buff and wax floors; clean restrooms; clean windows, desks, furniture, appliances, etc.) * Makes recommendations for hardware and procedural changes which become evident during the performing of the assigned PRT maintenance effort Education * Must have high school diploma or GED Experience * A minimum of one (1) year of experience in the following area: * Experience with proper commercial and/or residential cleaning and experience in assisting with general trades maintenance. * Up to 18 months education beyond high school in a vocational field such as mechanical or electrical required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. * One (1) year demonstrated general trades maintenance or mechanics experience * Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered. * All qualifications must be met by the time of employment. Pulls electric wires through conduit or any similar task requiring basic electric skills. * Assists in the performance of general painting duties as instructed, such as: painting walls, ceilings, trim, and furniture using enamel/latex paints with brushes, rollers, and low-pressure sprayers; patches and prepares surfaces for painting to include finishing drywall or similar tasks requiring basic painting skills. * Ensures that proper safety procedures, equipment, and personal protective equipment are used while performing job duties. * Completes requisitions for parts, supplies, etc. as needed * Receives work orders and interfaces with lead, supervisor, and managers; communicates work schedules, issues, concerns, and provides input to accommodate timely and quality maintenance and operational performance. * Cleans and maintains the interior appearance of all assigned buildings including classrooms, offices, laboratories, student housing, public areas, etc. by sweeping, mopping, stripping, and waxing floors; vacuuming and shampooing carpets, rugs, and upholstery; dusting and polishing furniture; washing and cleaning walls, ceilings, doors, windows, etc.; and performing other related internal cleaning activities. * Cleans and disinfects public bathrooms including walls, floors, lavatories, commodes, sinks, fixtures, mirrors, etc. Replenishes supplies including toilet tissue, towels, and soap. * Operates walk-behind and riding scrubbers, high-speed buffers, automated carpet cleaners, power lifts, and all other associated equipment needed to perform duties listed above. * Operates equipment in performance of duties such as brooms, mops, vacuums, shampooers, high-speed burnishers, etc. Calculates area to determine amounts of cleaning solutions required. Follows established safety procedures in the use of equipment and materials; locking and unlocking doors, offices, classrooms, and meeting rooms as directed by the supervisor. Moves equipment, chairs, tables, etc. to other floors using dollies, carts, etc. on elevators or stairways. * Cleans lobby, elevator, and hallway areas; keep floors clean and free of debris. Will maintain common area washer/dryer areas. Check filters in dryers to be sure they are free of lint build up. * Cleans and maintains the surrounding exterior appearance of all buildings by raking, removing, and disposing of leaves and debris; sweeping, shoveling, and removing snow, ice, slush, and mud from entryways and sidewalks; spreading salt and cinders on public passageways; washing graffiti from walls and sidewalks; and performing other related external cleaning activities. May be required to operate blowers, walk-behind sweepers, or any other equipment needed to perform duties listed above. Removes weeds from shrub and flowerbeds as required. * Collects and properly disposes of trash and litter throughout buildings and grounds including cleaning of trash receptacles and assisting sanitation vehicle operators.
