What to expect: Martin Marietta is seeking a Yard Loader to join our team. The ideal individual will be safety-conscious, dependable, and motivated. This individual will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating a Yard Loader and maintaining the quality of product stockpiles. The Yard Loader operator will maintain safe working speeds and promote site safety by asserting leadership of truck drivers on-site. Hours are 7 am - 4 pm, including weekends and overtime as necessary. A typical day for a(n) Yard Loader may include: * Operating the yard loader within the company guidelines and safety standards * Completing daily pre and post inspection of working areas and ensures they are equipped with adequate berms and roadways * Performing pre-shift safety inspection on equipment and reports needed repairs to the supervisor * Ensuring safe operations around conveyors, surge piles and crushers * Performing daily preventative maintenance - tire pressure, oil, grease, diesel fuel, hoses for leaks and all moving parts for proper function * Maintaining the quality of product stockpiles * Maintaining safe traffic flow throughout the site * Operating other equipment such as excavators and haul trucks in a safe manner as needed * Aiding in the training of co-workers as needed * Performing other duties as assigned by supervisor You may be a good fit if you: * Possess a High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience to perform the responsibilities associated with this position * Have experience in the maintenance and operation of mobile equipment, construction equipment and/or equipment used processing plants * Have experience in the operation and maintenance of a front-end loader (preferred)

High quality standard required and some creativity required. Responsibility: * Moderate level of responsibility, to identify defects, make repairs using tools provided, and make decisions for what can/cannot be repaired. Responsibility to minimize COQ impact while meeting customer quality expectations. Physical Demands: * Manually lift/slide/flip materials or doors up to 100 lbs with assistance. You'll work with a mentor who will train you on safely using all machinery. Your Responsibilities * Unload trailers and store material in storage bins. * Operate a shearing machine or a power saw to cut reinforcing steel bars to specific lengths, and a bending machine to bend reinforcing steel bars to specified shape. * Operate overhead crane to move, assemble and select material to be fabricated or shipped. * Assemble and load orders onto trailers for shipping. * Operate a spray gun in the application of epoxy touch up or reinforcing steel bars. * Maintain the shop or designated area in a clean and safe manner. Job Details Division: Metal Recycling Services LLC Other Available Locations: North Carolina Basic Job Functions: Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times. Properly follow company and OSHA safety procedures. Operate mobile heavy equipment of various sizes and types (mobile shear and grapple and magnet material handlers). Communicates over radio with team members for traffic coordination, production, and safety procedures. Perform daily inspections on equipment and report any defects or needed repairs to supervisor. Clean equipment as needed. Greet customers coming into the yard and direct them to the proper location to unload materials from their vehicles. Inspect material brought in by our customers for existence of non-acceptable items and ensure that those prohibited materials are not left on Company property. Examples are propane tanks, batteries, etc. Interact with customers and team members to facilitate a safe and productive yard environment. Minimum Qualifications: 2-3 years' experience using a front-end loader, skid steer or scrap handler in an industrial/outdoor work environment. Knowledge of heavy-equipment operating principles. Ability to operate equipment under varying working conditions. Ability to effectively communicate in English. Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions. Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency. Working knowledge of hazards and safety precautions common to heavy equipment operations.
