Job Summary

Job Summary
Surgical technologists are an integral part of the team of medical practitioners providing surgical care to patients. Assists in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care that meets the mission and goals of quality care and service excellence at Sanford. Assist with assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, or documenting the care of patients. This care will be delivered in accordance with established standards of performance. Will work under the supervision and delegation authority of a surgeon, and in some cases other clinical licensed professionals, to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive and non-invasive surgical procedures, ensuring that the operating room environment is safe, that equipment functions properly, and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety. Accurately accounting for items used during a procedure and maintaining an organized sterile field facilitates accountability for all items during and after a procedure. Demonstrate knowledge in the theory and application of the principles of asepsis and sterile technique to combine the knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and implementation and tools and technologies to facilitate a provider's performance of invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures. Actively participates in safety measures, maintains an organized sterile field, as well as maintain awareness of the location of all supplies needed for the course of the procedure. Prepares the surgical environment before procedures; ensuring that supplies and dedicated devices are sterile and ready for surgery, as well as clipping, transporting, positioning, and ensuring aseptic incisions sites. The surgical technologist may also assist in the preparation of patients prior to procedures. Make minor adjustments to avoid instrument malfunctions and keeping them in operating condition. May conduct sterile and unsterile supply quality assurance checks are according to sterilization principles before procedure. Verify the completeness of items when returned from the surgical site. Participate in reconciliation activities.
Qualifications
Graduate of an approved school of surgical technology or graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) required.
Experience in an operating room setting is preferred. Must have a good knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical and surgical terminology, instrumentation, aseptic techniques, and surgical procedures acquired through post-secondary training.
National certification as a Surgical Technologist preferred.
If an LPN, currently holds an unencumbered Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license with State Nursing board and/or possess multi-state licensure privileges.
Basic Life Support (BLS) required within first 60 days of employment into position.
Completes required annual continuing education units (CEU) and competency training requirements of the department and facility. Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.
If working in North Dakota and not an LPN, must be on the North Dakota Board of Nursing Unlicensed Assistive Personnel (UAP) Registry at the time employment begins.

Job Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for utilizing the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes/planning, implementation and evaluation) to provide individualized nursing care to patients. Responsible for the coordination of care, patient assessment, patient education, triage, and various other nursing interventions. Collaborates with other inter-professional colleagues, including physicians, to plan, implement and evaluate care. Demonstrates competency and practices within the full scope of nursing expertise/knowledge and utilizes appropriate age and population specific standards as designated in their assigned clinical setting. Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in nursing preferred.
Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state. Job Summary
Administers speech and language evaluations, tests or examinations to diagnose and plan treatments for clients/patients/residents with various speech problems and swallowing disorders. Assesses clients/patients/residents with various speech, language, cognitive or swallowing problems and develops individualized treatment plans based on clinical diagnoses. Provides speech and language services to clients/patients/residents; monitors disease progression and adjusts treatments accordingly. Instructs clients/patients/residents in practicing speech and language therapeutic exercises; provides consultation for clients/patients/residents working through speech and language treatment processes. Ensures all speech and language related standards, policies, protocols and quality requirements are met.
May treat individuals of all ages with varying diagnosis and disorders. Will demonstrate documentation in accordance with departmental guidelines and meet all regulatory requirements. Demonstrates level of treatment associated with their specialty provided to their clients/patients/residents. Follows and adheres to accepted clinical practice guidelines of professional organization.
Exhibits flexibility with acceptance of variable work schedules/assignments. Participates in activities to promote the department, Good Samaritan Society and Sanford Health. Will be interacting with individuals outside of the department including but not limited to: providers, case managers, third party payers, public organizations, etc. May be asked to supervise assistants, aides, and students as they provide client/patient/resident care, treatment, or other services. Will be expected to provide ongoing education and training to peers in the area(s) of expertise as determined by the department leadership. Performs other related duties as requested by manager.
Based on assigned area, work may focus on those receiving intervention in the post-acute, long term care and home health care environments when applicable.
Qualifications
Appropriate education level required in accordance with state licensure.
Must be licensed in the state(s) of practice as Speech-Language Pathologist.
When working at a Sanford Health Facility (not required but preferred by GSS Facilities): Holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence issued by the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) or currently working on Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY).
When applicable, may require valid driver's license.
Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications. Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care providers required or within the first 60 days of employment.

Job Summary
The activities coordinator leads the planning and development of activity programming, and assures activities are lead in a safe and effective manner by staff. Act as a resource for employees, residents and family with concerns around established activities and other matters related to activities. Establish relationships with outside community partners to ensure a positive experience. Creates and plans activities around established resident care plans. Responsible for assessing the needs of audience, and developing programs that meets the needs of the residents.
Completes activity assessments and minimum data set (MDS) questions as needed. Strives to improve the quality of life for the residents by providing appropriate, meaningful activities and interventions on a one-on-one and/or group basis. Administers the monthly activity calendar. Regularly elicits residents input into activity planning and keeps activities well organized and upbeat, following all state required activities such as music, craft and spiritual activities.
Partakes in activities such as fishing, nature walks, pet therapy, music therapy and others in order to support residents and ensure they are functioning at an optimal level while also maintaining dignity and identity. May assists with simple nursing procedures and transporting residents to and from rooms.
Oversees the effectiveness of programming being implemented, and provides necessary feedback to enhance the quality of activities being implemented. Must be self-directed with a high level of accountability and require minimal supervision.
Qualifications
High school graduate or equivalent required.
Two years' experience in this field preferred. Knowledge of working with a wide variety of resident demographics. Experience in social services, creative activities or long term care desired.
When working in a skilled, long term care facility, must be eligible for certification as a therapeutic recreation specialist or activities professional by a recognized accrediting body. Successful completion of an accredited training program approved by state preferred.
The following requirements are all dependent upon the on work location:
Current Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) certification or currently enrolled as a student in a healthcare related program preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS).
Depending on location, this role classifies as a Sanford Category I or II Driver requiring a motor vehicle report and proof of valid driver's license. Also must be medically qualified to perform the essential driving functions of this position as per our Sanford Driving Policy.
