Examples of Duties ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: * Monitors the activities of swimmers in and around a pool to see that the policies, rules and regulations are observed and that no hazard to safety is created. * Rescues persons in distress or danger of drowning. * Warns swimmers of improper activities or dangers. * Helps in cleaning and maintaining the pool and its facilities and equipment. * Administers first aid in the event of injuries. * Assists with aquatic-related events including swimming meets and practices. * Assists in preparing pool and closing pool. * Answers inquiries and gives information pertaining to the pool, its facilities, and swimming. * Performs minor repair and maintenance of pool accessories and appurtenances. * May provide swimming instruction, conditions permitting. * Performs job related duties as assigned. Qualifications EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND TRAINING: High school graduation or the equivalent. LICENSES/CERTIFICATES/REGISTRATIONS * A valid American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certificate or the equivalent*. * A valid first aid certificate.* * A valid C.P.R.
