Bon Secours-St Joseph Health Care Group in 1993 introduced the Care A Van program in southwest Florida.

Tidewater Health Care ultimately sold the hospital to Bon Secours Health Systems in 1996.
Then, in 1996, DePaul Medical Center in Norfolk, previously run by the Daughters of Charity, and Mary Immaculate Hospital in Newport News also became part of the system.
