Summary of this position:

The Division of Social Sciences at Maryville College, a selective four-year liberal arts college committed to superior teaching, invites applications for a full-time Visiting Lecturer of Hospitality and Tourism beginning in August 2026. Qualified candidates will have a commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching in a liberal arts setting and previous teaching experience is preferred. An M.A. or Ph.D. in Hospitality, Tourism, or a closely related field is required; ABD in the final stages of completion will also be considered.
Preference is given to applicants with a specialty in hospitality and sustainable tourism but applicants with specialties in other related areas such as business management are encouraged to apply. Teaching responsibilities include courses in the hospitality program (e.g., introduction to hospitality, hospitality marketing, management and operation, and event management), as well as courses in either sustainable tourism (sustainable tourism, development, and local culture) or business management (principles of management, professional development) depending on the expertise of the selected candidate. SUMMARY
This 12-month, fully benefited position serves part-time as a Residence Director and part-time in one of five collateral areas, listed below. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Leadership and Collaboration:

SUMMARY
The Counselor will be responsible for providing both mental health and substance abuse counseling on an individual and group basis. The Counselor will provide consistent therapy for students with a variety of issues reflective of student age groups. The Counselor will have experience with typical addiction issues of college-age individuals and be able to provide workshops, training, and other related educational material to both students and employees related to these issues. The Counselor will collaborate with the First Steps Coordinator to provide a broad range of education and support for students and collaborate with partners on and off campus to provide addiction services to students. * Serve on the One Day Challenge leadership teams for both the Athletic and Annual Fund challenges.
* Oversee the solicitation of the grandparents to the Annual Fund.
* Manage the faculty and staff giving campaigns, including recruitment of volunteers, solicitation, and stewardship.
* Oversee the solicitation for annual giving of corporations.
* Cultivate and solicit at least 125 alumni annually.
* Recruit, manage, and steward volunteers annually.
* Create print and electronic solicitations targeting alumni; engage alumni through volunteer recruitment and chapter events in order to significantly increase alumni giving to the Annual Fund. Coordinate comprehensive communication and marketing strategy for alumni engagement, philanthropic support, and stewardship.
* Help the Rhodes Annual Fund reach participation and dollar goals, as well as the overall advancement of Rhodes development and alumni engagement efforts.
* Cultivate prospects, solicit Annual Fund gifts, and provide stewardship. Create strategies to increase annual giving.
