Mason City Schools company history timeline

1803

On June 1, 1803, Revolutionary War veteran William Mason paid $1,700 at auction to purchase 640 acres of land in what is now downtown Mason.

1835

In 1835, a petition was sent to the federal post office to correct the name of the town.

1970

1974

Mason High was designed to serve 1,000 students, but only 465 enrolled when it opened in January 1974.
