MHCO company history timeline

1889

In December 1889, Doctor Potts made a particularly eloquent plea to Masons assembled in Grand Lodge.

1890

The committee assigned to the task petitioned a charter from the General Assembly, which was adopted on January 7, 1890.

1899

In 1899, the Masonic Widows and Orphans Home opened its doors in southeast Fort Worth.

1910

In 1910, the widows were moved to Texas Masonic Retirement Center and the institution’s name was changed from The Masonic Widows and Orphans Home to Masonic Orphans Home.

1913

In 1913, Masonic Orphans Home was declared an independent school district then referred to as Masonic Home and School of Texas (MHS).

1947

The Chapel on campus was built in 1947.

2007

In 2007, Masonic Home and School of Texas began a new chapter to continue the 120-year legacy.
