Nantucket Cottage Hospital is seeking an experienced and adaptable PhysicianAssistant to join our Urgent Access team for the summer season. In this temporary role, you will provide high‐quality, patient‐centered care in a fast‐paced environment, supporting walk‐in, same‐day, and urgent care needs for our island community.
The ideal candidate is a collaborative clinician with strong assessment and procedural skills and the ability to work independently while contributing to a supportive care team. This is a great opportunity to practice meaningful, hands‐on medicine in a unique island community during its busiest season.
Job Summary
The PhysicianAssistant (PA) is a licensed provider. The PA is responsible for the assessment and management of various populations of patients, medical and/or surgical, including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, development of appropriate plans of care and ongoing evaluation. May also perform additional duties, such as precepting a small group of learners.

GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:
* The PhysicianAssistant provides care of the critically ill neonate in the neonatal ICU and SCN
setting, including attendance at high-risk deliveries with the NICU team, admission of the ill
neonate to both the level II and III setting, and medical management of the critically ill neonate in
the NICU/SCN setting.
* The PhysicianAssistant shall work with a multidisciplinary team to review history and daily patient
data, round with a multidisciplinary team to make management plans and carry forth these plans
through the off hours.
* The PhysicianAssistant will perform emergency procedures including but not limited to
endotracheal intubation, needle thoracentesis, thoracostomy, paracentesis, umbilical line

Scope: The primary responsibilities of the NP/PA are in relation to the care of patients in the inpatient setting. The responsibilities include
The NP/PA works under the direction of the surgeon, and duties consist of pre and postoperative care of the surgical patient
The NP/PA is expected to perform clinical tasks on the patient unit: Placement and removal of Central lines, chest tubes, sutures, and temporary pacing wires as directed by the surgeons, and chief resident.
The NP/PA will discharge patients (complete discharge paperwork, discharge summary, communicate with cardiologist/PCP when appropriate).
The NP/PA will organize patient information and participate in patient case conferences both pre and post-operatively.
Job Description:
Job Summary: Participates in all aspects of pre and postoperative care of the cardiac surgical patient. This position will interface with various medical staff attending in providing care/coverage of the patients.
Essential Responsibilities:
Performs and documents preoperative evaluation (history and physical examinations). Orders and interprets diagnostic tests.
Examines and evaluates pre and postoperative patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Writes orders for medications and treatments. Performs invasive procedures such as: placement of arterial and central venous lines, insertion of chest tubes, intubations of patients, removal of intra-aortic balloon pump catheters.
Collaborates with staff surgeon and house staff in educating the patients and their families in medical care. Works with staff in providing patient care in the following locations: the intensive care units (CCU, CVICU, MICU), Cardiac Surgery Stepdown Units, PCU, Cardiology Units, and staff cardiac surgeon's clinical practice area.
Inserts and removes of chest tubes (thoracostomy), central line placements, arterial lines and Swan ganz floats. Troubleshoots intra-aortic balloon pump catheters. Removes intra-aortic balloon pump catheters and temporary pacing wires. Initiates blood products for hemodynamically unstable patients.
Required Qualifications:
Master's degree required.
License Nurse Practitioner License required., or Registration PhysicianAssistant License required., and Certificate 1 Basic Life Support required., and Certificate 2 Advanced Cardiac Life Support required.
3-5 years related work experience required.
NP/PA licensed in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Three to five years experience as a NP/PA with part of that time dealing with highly acute patients on a surgical service.

The PhysicianAssistant (PA) is responsible for assisting the Program Attending physicians in the medical management of hematologic (including BMT) and solid tumor oncology patients, as well as patients receiving elective chemotherapy. Job Summary
The Diabetes PA is an advanced practice practitioner who has a specialized knowledge and skills in diabetes through completion of a nurse practitioner program, completion of a diabetes certificate program and/or work experience in the care of patients with diabetes. The practitioner has the credentials to function in an expanded clinical role and is responsible for the daily management of diabetes patients. The cardiac cath lab physicianassistant is a licensed provider who will be responsible for all aspects of pre, intra, and post procedure care of interventional cardiology patients. This includes, but is not limited to, pre-procedure assessment, informed consent, sedation assessment, assisting with procedures, post-procedure management, and discharge education. The PA will first assist in all types of procedures performed in the cardiac cath lab and will be comfortable with equipment required for the procedures. The PA will act as the responding clinician for patients on the PA Cath Service with responsibilities including admission H&P, daily rounds, progress notes, and discharge summaries. The PA must have knowledge of the most common diagnoses admitted to the Interventional Cardiology service, demonstrate competency to effectively diagnose, formulate an appropriate treatment plan, and implement the plan in conjunction with the attending physician. The physicianassistant will be responsible for completing and maintaining procedural sedation training annually and completing fluoroscopic training and certification within 18 months of hire. While the PA can expect a relatively predictable work schedule, schedule variations may occur to cover clinical needs as they become apparent to the department. The position will include weekend and holiday coverage planned in advance. PA may be asked to take call, pick up additional shifts, work variable hours, and/or provide backup coverage as needed.

The Medical-Surgical Intensive Care Unit at Boston Children's Hospital seeks qualified PhysicianAssistants or Nurse Practitioners to join our multidisciplinary team. Key Responsibilities: * Providing care to infants, children, and adults with critical illness.
* Collaborating with supervising physicians to conduct patient assessments and medical history, physical exams, and diagnose health and developmental problems.
* Caring for patients with both acute and chronic disease by managing therapeutic regimens according to approved guidelines.
* Participating in intensive care unit medical rounds, including the presentation of clinical information and the progress and management of patients.
* Assisting with establishing a treatment plan and being included in all teaching activities conducted by the MSICU attending staff.
* Participating in ongoing research in the MSICU and offering expertise as a consultant and educator to other staff.
* Ability to work full time, 40 hours/week, day/night rotation with every 3rd weekend, 12-hour shifts. Opportunities also available for permanent nights with every 4th weekend rotation.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
* Master of Science in Nursing or Master's in PhysicianAssistant Studies
Experience:
* 1 year of critical care experience preferred.
* Will consider new graduates with previous ICU experience.
* Solid medical knowledge base for critical care medicine.
* Critical thinking skills and adaptability.
* Excellent communication skills and work collaboratively with medical and surgical colleagues, staff and trainees.
Licensure/ Certifications:
* A current Massachusetts NP or PA license required

Boston Children's Hospital is seeking a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or PhysicianAssistant (PA) to play a crucial role in both our Neonatal Consult Service and Surgical Service within the NICU. The NP both provides advanced clinical care to critically ill neonates across the hospital and contributes significantly to our 30-bed tertiary care Level III/IV NICU.
This role encompasses expert consultation to infants throughout multiple intensive care units and pediatric specialty services. Collaborating with neonatologists, pediatric surgeons, and multidisciplinary teams in the NICU, the NP manages complex pre-operative and post-operative surgical patients and medically fragile neonates from extreme prematurity through six months corrected age and beyond. In addition, the NP is pivotal in the Neonatal Consult Service, offering comprehensive assessments, diagnoses, and management of acute and chronic neonatal conditions, including cardio-respiratory failure, nutritional support, pain and sedation management, gastrointestinal disorders, and congenital or genetic anomalies. They serve as a key consultant across the institution, advising on individualized care plans for infants with varied diagnoses and treatment needs.
Key Responsibilities:
* Facilitating the Neonatal Consult Service: Acting as a primary consultant within the hospital, guiding care plans and treatment strategies for infants across multiple ICUs and specialty units.
* Managing Care in NICU's Surgical Service: Overseeing critically ill neonates on the surgical service, including pre-operative and post-operative management in collaboration with medical and surgical teams.
* Providing Specialized ICU Care: Delivering expert care including pain and sedation management, cardio-respiratory failure treatment, nutritional support, and management of complex medical and surgical diagnoses in infants ranging from premature to 6 months after their due date.
* Institution-wide Consulting: Extending consultation services to infants in other ICUs (Cardiac, Medical-Surgical, and Medical) and pediatric specialty and sub-specialty units. Collaborating with the Neonatology Consultation Team on comprehensive management across diverse diagnoses and treatment modalities.
* Participating in Multidisciplinary Activities: Engaging in interdisciplinary rounds, care planning, quality improvement initiatives, and education of trainees and staff.
* Working 40-hour workweek with start times as early as 6:00am with rotating responsibilities within the NICU's surgical service and throughout the hospital with the consultation service, demanding a high level of clinical expertise, critical thinking, and collaborative practice within a fast-paced academic medical center.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
* Master of Science in Nursing or Masters in PhysicianAssistant Studies required.
Experience:
* Minimum 1 year RN, NP, or PA experience in a Level III NICU or in a critical care setting.
* 2-3 years of experience in NICU, Cardiology, or consultation preferred.
* Surgical or cardiology advanced knowledge and experience preferred
Licensure/ Certifications:
* A current Massachusetts NP or PA license required
* Neonatal NP or Certified Acute Care Pediatric NP strongly preferred

Experience
