Physician Assistant, Plastic and Oral Surgery/Sedation to support its Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons. This Physician Assistant will be responsible for seeing outpatient consults, providing IV conscious sedation, as well as first and second assisting in the OR.
Key Responsibilities:
Administer IV conscious sedation, including IV placement, peri-, intra-and post-procedural assessment and monitoring of patients undergoing IV sedation in the office-based setting
Provide comprehensive healthcare services to patients of all ages and with all types of conditions
Elicit histories, perform examinations, order and interpret diagnostic studies, instruct and counsel patients about their diagnosis
Provide all aspects of pre-operative and post-operative care, as well as first or second assisting during surgery
Facilitate the appropriate referral of patients, consistent with his or her supervising physician's scope of expertise and responsibility and delegated to him/her by the supervising physician
Working 40 hours per week, 4-10-hour days Monday through Friday in Boston and Waltham as well as the possibility of travelling to other satellite locations as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Masters in Physician Assistant Studies
Experience:
The knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts typically acquired through completion of an accredited Physician Assistant's program
The analytical skills to resolve highly complex problems requiring the application of clinical, scientific, or technical principles, theories and concepts and in-depth, cross-functional experience-based knowledge
Strong communication skills to effectively deal with conflicting views or issues and medicated fair solutions, and well-developed writing skills
A strong interest in and understanding of the Plastic and Oral Surgery disciplines strongly preferred

The Opportunity
At the Newton Wellesley Emergency Department, we care for approximately 75,000 patients every year. Our facility includes 35,000 square feet of space with both adult and pediatric trauma rooms. The emergency room treatment area is divided into an adult 44 bed general emergency area open 24 hours per day. A separate 8-bed pediatric emergency area is open up to 21hrs per day 8am-5am. This area is staffed with specialty trained pediatric emergency physicians and child life specialists.
Our Physician Assistants work under the supervision and direction of our board-certified emergency medicine physicians to ensure high quality, safe and timely care for patients with various chief complaints. The PA team manages high acuity patients and procedures. They have the opportunity to teach PA students and benefit from our own educational program to develop as a clinician. The PA may assume care for patients of all ages and will support all areas of the department. The PA will also perform medical screening exams and respond to any acute developments during the patients stay.

Key Responsibilities:
* Providing front-line care and coordination for complex, critically ill patients in the MICU, including assessment, diagnosis, pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions, bedside procedures, and family-centered care.
* Collaborating and consulting with acute care providers and interdisciplinary team members on all assigned inpatients during daily rounds. Managing assigned patients throughout the course of the day.
* Participating in ongoing research and quality improvement initiatives.
* Facilitating patient/family and multidisciplinary team education.
* Working 40 hours per week, rotating day/night shifts and a maximum of every third weekend
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
* A Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) or a Master's in Physician Assistant Studies
Experience:
* A minimum of 2 years of Pediatric ICU experience.
* 1-2 years of Pediatric acute care NP or PA experience is preferred; new graduates will also be considered with previous ICU experience.
Licensure/ Certifications:
* MA licensure as an Advanced Practice Nurse PNP or FNP or Physician Assistant

We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the Acute Cardiac Care Unit (ACCU) to join the Cardiac Medical and Surgical Advanced Practice Clinician Teams. Key Responsibilities * Care for inpatient pediatric and adult patients with cardiac medical issues including congenital heart disease, arrhythmia, heart failure, and pre and post heart transplant management
* Care for cardiology patients admitted to the Cardiology service for management of non-cardiac medical issues
* Care for patients following cardiac surgery including, chest tube and temporary pacing wires removal, wound care, arrythmia and heart failure management
* Coordinate care for management of acute and chronic medical issues
* Collaborate with members of the multidisciplinary team and consulting services to provide comprehensive care for optimal patient outcomes
* Coordinate complex discharge planning needs
* Work collaboratively in a family-centered environment
* 36 or 40 hours, either permanent nights or rotating day/night with up to 50%-night rotation, every 3rd weekend, some holidays (including major)
* Rotation between Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery APP teams on a 2-month cadence
Minimal Qualifications
Education
* A Master of Science in Nursing or Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies
Experience
* 1+ year of current Nurse Practitioner experience or 1+ year of current PA experience preferred
* Will consider new graduate Nurse Practitioners with 2+ years inpatient RN experience preferably in pediatric, cardiac, or higher level of care (ICU/ICP/ED) or new graduate PAs if prior pediatric cardiology and higher level of care rotations completed.
Licensure/Certifications
* Current MA NP or MA PA license with PNP or FNP certification
