As a Customer Service Analyst, you will provide superior customer service through answering our incoming calls and chat messages from both clients and agents. The Impact
As the Annuity Strategic Finance Lead your work will impact strategic decisions made by your business partners; enabling better strategic decisions utilizing the financial data and tools. You will accomplish that through the responsibilities listed below:
Drive and Support Strategic Initiatives:
* Actively participate in driving business financial projects/initiatives. Be a respected thought partner in the development and execution of strategies and initiatives to achieve the enterprise's strategic aspirations and goals, including active, ongoing involvement in product development and pricing analytics

* Develop Sales Forecast scenarios, in close partnership with MMSD, monitor and assess trends and leading indicators; be able to substantiate and evaluate sales trends
* Analyze Margin, expenses, Pre-tax Operating Income (PTOI), AUM, unit costs, VNB, capital consumption and other financial business drivers, used by business partners and the CFO organization
* Influence, lead and educate on financial-related elements of the strategic and tactical success of the businesses

The Opportunity
MassMutual Ascend's Policy Research team is looking for a detail-oriented individual to join the team as a Senior Business Research Analyst. As a Senior Business Research Analyst, you will focus on excellent customer service through a low volume of phone calls and written verification. The Senior Business Research Analyst will review and process documentation within our Annuity, Variable, and Pension blocks of business, along with creating and managing reports. You will have flexible, hybrid work arrangements based out of our downtown Cincinnati, OH office.
Job Responsibilities
Actively gains and maintains advanced knowledge of the various regulations and reporting requirements for the products/services the company maintains.
Applies knowledge to prepare and/or verify various customer and regulatory statements, summaries, transactions, tax forms, etc. for accuracy and compliance with company and regulatory guidelines. This may include working with vendors/IT to process client output and maintain client records.
Researches and resolves customer complaints, error report output, tax reconciliation, and/or other issues escalated from customer service, policy service, new business, etc.
Documents methods/processes to resolve issues, may process corrections into the appropriate company systems.
Identifies and recommends potential training and/or process improvement needs to management.
Responds to correspondence, complaints and information requests via telephone, e-mail, fax, regular mail.
Reviews and releases processed transactions to assure accuracy and timely processing while working within narrowly defined limits.
Ensures that disbursements are conducted in compliance with applicable statutes, regulations and other legal requirements, and that all applicable company procedures and policies are followed.
Participates in processes/projects such as reviewing and/or testing impact to current policies/practices for system installs/upgrades, changes in regulator environment, etc.
Builds partnerships with all areas of the business in order to effectively address policy issues.
Applies knowledge of policies and procedures and utilizes general understanding of the business and organization. Complies with company and regulatory guidelines.
Provides guidance, technical advice, training and assistance to lower-level positions and other functional areas.
Maintains client records, returns, reports, and other related information in administering client business.
Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Associate Degree or equivalent. Bachelor's Degree preferred in Business, Accounting, or related discipline.
3 to 5 years of related experience.
Currently holds Series 6 or must obtain Series 6 within 6 months hire.

Assist with the elicitation and documentation of business requirements through interviews, surveys, and workshops:

The Opportunity
As a co-op/intern in our Annuity Finance organization, you will be exposed to meaningful work and experience the actual day-to-day work that our experienced accounting professionals perform. You will be responsible for a small book of business where you will perform all the necessary accounting functions from posting journal entries to analysis and everything in between! As a co-op/intern, you will have a task list that exposes you to core accounting work and you will have the opportunity to learn from a collaborative group of leaders across the finance organization. We offer flexible work arrangements with defined days in our downtown Cincinnati office and working remotely from home.
Job Responsibilities
Record a variety of monthly journal entries and review trial balances in the general ledger system.
Prepare various reports, schedules, and financial statements for use by management.
Maintain up to date documentation of processes and tasks.
Prepare and assist with analysis of statutory and GAAP financial statements.
Develop basic understanding of statutory and GAAP accounting guidance for insurance industry.
Compose analytical schedules and gather information for independent auditors.
Perform a variety of routine, clerical type accounting activities in support of the department.
Participate in process improvement activities.
Special projects as requested.
Minimum Qualifications
Entering at least 2nd year of higher education pursuing a Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field.
Effective verbal/written communication skills.
Good time management and prioritization skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
Able to work a full-time schedule of 40 hours per week
