The Physical Therapist Assistant 1 (PTA1) is a novice to proficient clinician. Assists Physical Therapists in providing care to patients. Provide treatment as indicated following plan of care from Physical Therapist's Assessment
Utilize appropriate safety measures when providing care.
Work as part of rehab team to provide physical therapy services under the direction and supervision of the physical therapist
Educate staff, participants, and family on therapy services available in the rehab department
Instruct, and supervise other staff, and/or family members on therapy program to be carried out by individuals other than a physical therapist/ physical therapy assistant
Assist in observing participants and collaborate with Physical therapist regarding progress or decline of participant
Supervise restorative aides as assigned, including all areas of performance consistent with departmental policies; report as required to supervisor regarding these issues.
Provide orientation and training in regard to body mechanics and lift equipment to newly hired staff as requested.
Complete documentation in a timely manner, write daily notes and progress reports
Adjust schedule as needed to meet the needs of Innovative Integrated Health participants.
Maintain confidentiality regarding participant, staff, contractor, and organizational information
Treat participants with respect and safe technique.
Provide treatments and skilled services to participants home as necessary.
Travel may be necessary to support all Innovative Integrated Health (IIH) sites.
Attend and participate in staff meetings, in-services, projects, and committees as assigned.
Adhere to and support the center's practices, procedures, and policies including assigned break times and attendance.
Accept assigned duties in a cooperative manner; and perform all other related duties as assigned.
Be flexible in schedule of hours worked, and in scheduling participants' treatments to accommodate the participants' availability.
May require use of personal vehicle to provide therapy services in participant's residence. If using a personal vehicle, a valid California Driver's License is required.
Must be a licensed driver by the state of California with a good driving record to be approved to utilize the company's car for home visits.

Services provided are age appropriate. Therapists providing services to infants, children, and adolescents will ensure that treatment includes modalities and equipment appropriate to the developmental level of the patient.
Attends required meetings for the department and Kaweah Health.
Meets or exceeds requirements for the given practice settings set forth by appropriate regulatory bodies (Joint Commission, CDPH, CMS, etc.).

Assists with day to day operations of the department as needed.
Participates in employee evaluation process via peer reviews as requested.

About the Job
Physical Therapist Assistants (PTAs) are responsible for patient care under the direction and supervision of a licensed physical therapist as mandated by the State Practice Act. They possess training and education which allows them to assist the Physical Therapist in carrying out prescribed treatment programs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Understand applicable state Practice Act and adhere to the laws which govern how Physical Therapist Assistants may practice under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist.
Review the VibrantCare Clinical Operations Policies & Procedures Manual on a yearly basis and adhere to the policies and procedures set forth.
Complete all Medicare compliance trainings as required by regulations and/or VibrantCare policies.
Complete Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) training on a yearly basis and adhere to standards set forth in OSHA standards and other governmental regulations.
Clean and prepare treatment areas and equipment following OSHA guidelines.
Carry out skilled treatment programs as directed by a licensed Physical Therapist.
Communicate patient comments and activities to therapists clearly via verbal or written word.
Document in charts using accepted medical terminology and format.
Complete written documentation (daily notes, charge tickets, etc.) legibly, appropriately and in a timely fashion in order to meet facility, physician and payor deadlines.
Maintain open and respectful communication with co-workers, physicians, patients, family members, third party payors and others at all times.
Attend and/or participate in facility meetings as directed by Center Manager (may include utilization review, infection control, disaster preparedness, etc.)
Completes sufficient ongoing continuing education coursework to meet state licensure requirements for the defined reporting period
Maintains a current CPR certification that meets state licensure requirements
Qualifications:
Experience as a Physical Therapy Assistant
Physical Therapy Assistant Associate's or Bachelor's Degree
Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant in California
Familiarity with exercise and physical therapy equipment
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office
Possession of excellent interpersonal, time management, problem solving and self-initiation skills
