Observe and report possible compound / equipment defects or hazards. Ensure that Job Hazard Assessment (JHA) requirements are identified, documented and followed. Accurately follow instructions and complete assigned course of action in accordance with scope of work and methods of procedures (MOPs) and track work via checklists. Accurately and timely document job costs, including labor hours and material. Read customer blueprints and execute scope of work per the customer's specifications. Identify potential add-on sales to increase company revenue. Troubleshoot, upgrade and expand existing major cellular carrier networks / sites. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS To qualify for the position of Power Systems Technical Communicator an individual must possess a strong Caterpillar technical background in Industrial Engines. Experience and knowledge of Electric Power Generation systems, Marine and or Petroleum would be considered the equivalent to Industrial engine knowledge. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Responsible for technical assistance with all Power Systems issues included but not limited to Industrial engines and Electric Power Generation systems. * Work directly with all levels of technicians and supervisors for all technical needs. * Work directly with the Caterpillar parts and service representatives for technical assistance and goodwill for product support. * Assist supervisors and other members of management with administration of warranty, service letter administration, and extended service coverage contracts. * Assist in developing training schedules for technicians and provide training as needed on Caterpillar SISWEB/TMI and other web-based dealer systems. * Research and investigate repair status information for customers, technicians and other department employees as required. * Performs other technical communicator duties including requests to factory engineering for technical assistance as well as documenting and reporting product problems. * Assist in preparation of quotes for customers as required. * Some driving is required * Other duties as assigned. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and/or five years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have experience in engine rebuilding and reuse guidelines for Caterpillar components. Must have experience with and full understanding of diesel and gas fueled engines, controls, fuel, lubrication and cooling systems. An understanding of AC power generation, control and distribution, including power output, power factor, circulating current and generator harmonic measurement and calculations a plus. SKILLS & ABILITIES * Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. * Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. * Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of this organization. * Ability to add, subtracts, multiply and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. * Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent. * Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. * Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. * Ability to conduct oneself in a manner that is always professional and business-like. * Must have experience with computers.
