Essential Functions
Advise and counsel employers on various issues arising under federal and state employment laws;
Draft and review basic and complex employment, confidentiality, restrictive covenant and invention agreements;
Review, revise and draft various employment handbooks and policies;
Possess a basic understanding of COBRA and workers' compensation coverage;
Conduct workplace trainings on various employment law issues;
Represent employers in court, before state and federal administrative agencies (e.g., EEOC, IDHR and OSHA), at mediations, arbitrations, fact-finding conferences and on-site visits;
Manage client files, with minimal supervision, including engaging in regular communication with clients;
Conduct witness interviews, gather client documentation and conduct complex factual investigation and analysis;
Conduct legal research, draft and respond to written discovery, draft pleadings, draft motions and supporting memoranda, including dispositive and discovery motions;
Prepare for, conduct, and defend depositions without immediate supervision, including travel as required;
Argue discovery and dispositive motions in state and federal courts;
Manage and complete assigned tasks in a timely manner, and keep supervising attorneys and clients up to date on the status of assigned matters;
Work effectively as part of a team and independently; and
Other related tasks as may be assigned from time to time.
Required Qualifications
Licensed and in good standing in the State of Illinois
5 to 7 years of experience practicing employment law, preferably at a law firm
J.D. from an accredited law school

Compensation
The salary range for this position is based upon various factors including the individual's experience, skills, and qualifications. An estimate of the salary range for individuals working a hybrid schedule in our Chicago office is $160,000-$190,000.

Overview
The Office Administrator oversees the day-to-day management of the office, including, but not limited to, direct responsibility for the Legal Executive and Administrative Assistants, Reception and matrix management of Office Services, IT/AV, Facilities and Conference Services team members. Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Management
Provides day-to-day oversight of the office including direct management of Legal Executive and Administrative Assistants and Receptionists, and matrix management of Office Services, IT/AV, and Conference Services teams.
Manages team assignments, holiday and team coverage, workflow, training, and performance expectations for Legal Executive Assistants. Conducts bi-annual performance evaluations.
Hosts regular 1-1 and group meetings with team members.
Collaborates with the HR Department in managing and resolving performance and employee relations issues.
Represents the office to firm-wide department management and provides point of contact for communication and coordination.
Works closely with the HR Department in proposing recruiting sources, participates in the interview process for potential candidates as required.
Manages and conducts orientation of new business support. Coordinates with Legal Recruiting department to support new associate programs and lateral associate and partner onboarding.
Partners with the Office Managing Partner to support the office strategic plan.
Office Social & Community involvement
Proactively organizes and hosts fun and creative social events to increase engagement, strengthen relationships, and maintain office morale.

Local subject matter expert and local lead for office build-outs and/or move activity. Coordinates with local vendors and other firm personnel to execute against plans.

Ensures the security of the firm's buildings and real estate.
Monitors leasing and any sublease arrangements and responds to subtenant requests; coordinates tenant improvement construction projects.
Finance
Maintains proper financial controls, contributes to planning the annual budget in collaboration with Office Managing Partner and Director of Office Administration.
Business Continuity
Works with the Manager of Business Continuity to develop, maintain and communicate the local office particulars of all business continuation plans for emergencies, disasters or pandemics. Plans and supervises emergency evacuation drills and CPR/AED training for business support.
Implements an environmental policy for the office.
Addresses the health and safety of the office, and implements a Health & Safety policy ensuring the firm is compliant with all relevant law & regulations.
Project Work
Undertakes ad-hoc related projects as and when required.
Qualifications
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent in Business, Finance or a related discipline plus 5-10 years of directly related experience managing legal secretaries and/or administrative support. At least 3-5 of those years should be in administrative management in a law office of more than 15 lawyers (preferably a branch office of a large law firm).
Ability to work in a matrix management environment. Strong influence, facilitation, motivation, and resolution skills.
Thorough understanding of legal secretarial role and responsibilities and attorney/secretary relationship.
Must demonstrate the ability to manage and solve complex problems, establish priorities and organize work. Ability to be flexible and able to manage conflicting deadlines and requests.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Strong coaching and mentoring skills. Ability to utilize interpersonal skills to motivate individuals toward common goal or influence change.

Overview
The Billing Coordinator is responsible for all aspects of billing for an assigned group of lawyers and clients. The Billing Coordinator is expected to be able to serve as a resource for Billing Responsible Attorneys and their secretaries on all aspects of inventory management.
Responsibilities
Maintain a thorough knowledge of client terms, discount arrangements, lawyer and client preferences while ensuring:
Invoices are issued timely and accurately, inclusive of client terms and discounts
Best practices are used to create, present and distribute pro formas and client invoices
Compliance with firm and outside counsel guidelines is maintained
E-invoices are submitted on a timely basis with all necessary supporting documentation
Revisions to invoices are addressed and resolved on a timely basis.
Manage the unbilled inventory for an assigned group of lawyers:
Ensure consistent and regular communication with lawyers regarding aged balances
Leverage secretaries and firm management to escalate problem accounts
Make recommendations for write-offs of aged or disputed balances where appropriate
Respond to information requests from lawyers, clients and administrative staff related to inventory levels, time and cost entries, billing reconciliations, outstanding receivables and unapplied cash
Communicate firm policies and guidelines to lawyers and clients as appropriate
Support client and partner requests for accrual information
Produce and distribute standard unbilled proformas which recap client/matter time and disbursements
Analyze short paid invoices and determine the correct course of action to resolve
Utilize firm standard reporting tools to respond to requests for information, particularly Excel and BRL dashboards
Assist with the application of unidentified cash receipts, ensuring prompt resolution;
Assist timekeepers and secretaries with diary entry issues and transfers between matters.
Ensure that requests for alternative fee arrangements are communicated to the Pricing Committee for review and ultimate disposition;
Maintain documentation of procedures, deadlines, and other client and lawyer preferences related to billing and collection;
Provide audit letter assistance to lawyers and secretaries by quickly responding to requests for period-ending balances.

* Design and optimize dashboards - Build, enhance, and maintain dynamic Power BI dashboards and data models used by FP&A and firm leadership.

* Deliver financial insights - Support monthly forecasting, variance analysis, and management reporting across business functions and practice areas.

What You'll Bring
* Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Data Analytics, or a related field; with 3 to 5 years of experience in FP&A, financial analysis, or business intelligence, ideally within a professional services or corporate environment.

As a Firmwide Litigation & Practice Technology (LPT) Senior Analyst at Kirkland & Ellis, you'll play a critical role in supporting case teams through hands-on management of data, databases, document productions, and advanced litigation technology tools.
Working closely with LPT Project Managers and firm leadership, you'll help ensure the secure, efficient, and accurate handling of client data across all phases of discovery and litigation support. This role offers a chance to apply your expertise in eDiscovery tools, analytics, and process improvement within a fast-paced, collaborative environment that values precision, problem-solving, and innovation.
This position may occasionally require travel and after-hours support to meet client or project needs.
* Data & Database Management: Process, convert, and manage electronically stored information (ESI) in accordance with case-specific requirements.
* Technical Execution: Create, configure, and administer Relativity workspaces, Brainspace environments, and other eDiscovery applications.
* Quality & Compliance: Conduct quality control checks on data processing and production deliverables to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with project specifications.
