What you'll be doing:
Lead Material Handling Equipment Operator: As a Lead Material Handling Equipment Operator, you'll mentor and train new material handlers and fill in for supervisors as needed. You'll be lifting, lowering, and carrying product in a fast-paced environment and stacking empty pallets and maintaining a safe and clean workspace as you go. You will be operating material handling equipment such as forklifts, cherry pickers, turrets, or electric pallet jacks to move product within the warehouse while adhering to safety procedures.
You will be essential to the success of Staples Supply Chain as we deliver to our customers.

* Safely operate the site loader in moving materials, and ensuring materials are properly stored.• Ensure all irrigation systems are operable & appropriately hydrating the various aggregates.• Ensure plant/yard housekeeping is appropriate to include shoveling, sweeping, and washing down the yard frequently.• Ensure all appropriate EPA guidelines are followed and yard up to appropriate regulatory standards.• Assist Plant Supervisor with monthly inventory.• With direction from Plant Supervisor, coordinate the traffic flow of the yard.• Ensure haulers are placing materials in appropriate areas.• Ensure haulers are rendering tickets in the batch house.• Assist maintenance team with plant repairs.• Must be able to travel within delivery area to other plant locations.• Ensure plant bins are fully loaded with appropriate materials during batching hours of operation.• Properly maintain the loader, i.e., grease all fittings, keep fuel level full, perform daily mechanical inspections, report issues.• Ability to perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
* Good written and oral communication skills.• Construction industry experience required.• Ability to work night shifts, overtime, and weekends.• Basic understanding of windows-based operations / computer skills.• Must have demonstrated the ability to perform with minimal supervision.• Basic understanding of concrete characteristics and production.• Must have demonstrated safe operation of Mixer Truck and Loader.• Knowledge of proper material handling practices.• Previous experience in ready-mix industry is preferred.• Valid CDL license is preferred.• Must have demonstrated the ability to be coachable by Plant Supervisor and Area Supervisor.• Must be physically capable of performing strenuous manual labor including: bending, lifting, climbing at heights of 60-80 feet, walking on catwalks, stretching, driving/steering, sitting, twisting, vibration, and riding & walking on rough terrain.
