You typically work under the supervision of a yard manager. To become a lumber yard worker, you need a high school diploma or GED certificate, and the ability to operate a forklift. Additional qualifications include excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills, as well as attention to detail and expertise using carpentry equipment.
