Responsibilities
Supports the course materials department team members, including assigning and evaluating their work based on direction and strategy provided by CM or business operations, as well as participating in team member (seasonal mainly) interviewing, hiring, and training new team members.
Collaborates on setting staffing level expectations to support business needs. Develops staff and works to identify key talent to support the talent pipeline. Limited team members' supervision may be necessary seasonally. In partnership with the store manager, plans course materials department work calendar, and enforces policies related to specific tasks and activities.
Partners to create and maintain a Hassle-Free customer service culture focused on solutions-based selling and an exceptional customer experience. Assists customers and provides guidance to department team members around course materials buying decisions (new, used, rental, and digital). In partnership with the store manager, oversees the special-order functions. Resolves customer (faculty, staff, and students) concerns regarding service or product.
In partnership with store/course materials leadership, presents, interacts, and influences faculty, department chair(s), Dean, and/or administration on course materials issues, ensuring resolution for escalated issues, including input for strategy and goal development for the department and/or store.
Collaborates with store/course materials leadership, as appropriate, to analyze buyback trends, enrollment figures, adoption forms, and other information to determine order quantities and manage the disposition of text and ensure effective inventory management. Collects, oversees input, makes recommendations for store/course materials leadership approval, and responds to inquiries regarding course material data for orders, inventory, and market share, and makes recommendations to drive competitive position. In partnership with the store manager (or CM Market teams), creates a strategy to coordinate and create business improvements to increase sell-thru and market share. Monitors quantities and book condition during buyback and rental check-in to ensure saleable criteria.
Sources course materials from students, wholesalers, distributors, and publishers. Reaches out to publishers, faculty, and Follett partners to ensure customers are provided with a full range of course material options. Responds to inquiries regarding orders and inventory levels. All are based on direction and strategy from store/course materials leadership teams.
May stock course materials on shelves, pull merchandise for return and verify shipments against packing lists. May prepare merchandise for shipping to customers or publishers. Oversees invoicing, packing and shipping, and ensuring accuracy and timeliness. All are based on direction and strategy from CM Market Management teams.
Collects course materials information from school faculty and administration. In partnership with the store manager, calculates the quantities of course materials needed for the school term. Edits adoptions from faculty to ensure accuracy and follows up as necessary on missing/late adoptions. Enters course materials information into a computer to analyze inventory and purchasing purposes. Coordinates sales promotion activities, develops and implements advertising strategies, and prepares textbooks and non-related products for merchandise display.

Main Purpose of the job:

Administrative Work:

Global Procurement Associate Director, Strategic Sourcing Lead - Raw Materials, Devices and Distribution

In this vital role you will oversee the operations and management of Procurement's Raw Materials, Devices and Distribution Strategic Sourcing team at Amgen. This position will play an accountable role in driving the team's execution and delivery of strategic sourcing priorities in line with Amgen's Operations committed financial targets and goals while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements and driving continuous improvement. Reporting to Procurement's Sr. Business Partner Lead for Operations, you will develop and execute the procurement sourcing strategies to address business needs while achieving best practice outcomes.
**Roles & Responsibilities:**
+ Lead Global Procurement's Strategic Sourcing team for Raw Materials, Devices and Distribution, providing direction, mentorship, and execution leadership to achieve business goals through supplier sourcing and partnering; actively challenge work to deploy the most comprehensive and creative solutions; remove barriers for team to ensure its ability to implement sourcing deliverables.
+ Drive continuous improvement through sourcing initiatives by finding opportunities & inefficiencies, recommending solutions for YoY value capture of savings, and implementing strategic outcomes drive out of Global Procurement's Category Management team.
+ Champion ownership and delivery of annual savings and value plans across Amgen's Raw Materials, Devices and Distribution sourcing plans that alignment with category and business strategies delivered against Finance's annual budget plan
+ Be a trusted advisor to Operations - with ability to grow and maintain influence of Sourcing Agenda with business executives
+ Be a Procurement leader with strong financial competence, experienced with accountability to business partner with Finance executives
+ Develop team capabilities and cultivate a culture of diversity and inclusion, with a commitment to continuous improvement in sourcing & contracting processes, tools and operating model; Develop goals and prioritize team's work among multiple initiatives; Managerial courage to provide performance feedback
+ Lead a team of 6 direct reports; support Sourcing Managers to connect the dots and translate strategic programs into sourcing deliverables and outcomes
+ Curate supplier partnerships while deepening Sourcing team's knowledge of external supplier capabilities and innovative opportunities, accessed though Strategic Sourcing
+ Identify and mitigate supply risk while ensuring Sourcing deliverables adhere to regulatory requirements (e.g., GLP, GMP, ISO) and drive business performance while connecting outcomes to business goals and performance metrics
+ Monitor and report on Strategic Sourcing performance metrics, making necessary adjustments to meet organizational goals and finding opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
+ Evaluate and implement, through Sourcing, process improvement, environmental sustainability & supplier diversity and automation initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and support long-term goals.
+ Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards and best practices, maintaining and evolving Amgen's contractual position in order to drive competitive advantage for Amgen.

**Basic Qualifications:**
Doctorate degree and 3 years of Procurement, Supply Chain, Manufacturing or Operations (preferably in a regulated industry) experience
**Or**
Master's degree and 7 years of Procurement, Supply Chain, Manufacturing or Operations (preferably in a regulated industry) experience
**Or**
Bachelor's degree and 9 years of Procurement, Supply Chain, Manufacturing or Operations (preferably in a regulated industry) experience
**Or**
Associate's degree and 12 years of Procurement, Supply Chain, Manufacturing or Operations (preferably in a regulated industry) experience
**Or**
High school diploma / GED and 14 years of Procurement, Supply Chain, Manufacturing or Operations (preferably in a regulated industry) experience
In addition to meeting at least one of the above requirements, you must have a minimum of 3 years experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs, or directing the allocation or resources. Your managerial experience may run concurrently with the required technical experience referenced above
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ In-depth knowledge of Strategic Sourcing best practices across Raw Materials, Devices and Distribution categories
+ Familiarity with industry standards and regulations (e.g., GLP, GMP, ISO, OSHA).
+ Ability to lead and manage teams in a procurement environment supporting direct materials and COGM expenditures
+ Strong analytical skills to monitor performance metrics, optimize sourcing deliverables, and ensure compliance.
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills with Executives
+ Ability to work effectively with global, virtual teams
+ Ability to lead through ambiguity
+ High degree of initiative and self-motivation
+ Ability to manage multiple priorities successfully
+ Team-oriented, with a focus on achieving team goals

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
