Your Impact:
The OSP Field Engineer provides training and supportive engineering services through highly detailed collection of telecommunications information from the job site. This position requires a working level of knowledge in all technical aspects of fiber networks. The successful candidate is responsible for in person validation of the existing field design and layout of the telecommunications network to include aerial, buried and underground fiber network design and layout, underground conduit, handhole, building entrance, and riser facilities. May serve as an informal lead to more junior staff from time to time.

Identify, photograph, & document detailed information of required facilities, including cables, poles, terminals, pedestals, handholes, & other outside plant infrastructure.
Capture accurate measurements of attachment heights, span distances, utility structures, & distances from existing/proposed OSP facilities to centerlines, property lines, and curb lines
Identify power and communication facilities and ownership on utility poles.
Record bonding, grounding, guying, and anchor information
Deliver detailed field notes & photographs to the engineering team
Identify relevant obstructions to fiber placement and provide proposed mitigation strategy
Understanding of OSP construction techniques
Ability to read and understand digital GIS maps, conduit records, and layout drawings
Be able to effectively utilize tools, such as measuring wheels, height sticks, pull finder, GPS devices, MH/HH hooks, & laser rangefinder
Able to use electronic devices, such as iPad, iPhone, laptop, file sharing, email, etc.
Core Experience:
3+ years of experience in the fiber-optic/telecommunications/telecom construction industry
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Knowledge of outside plant activities (Fiber Cable Design, Pole Line Construction, Conduit System design), and Make-ready issues
Knowledge of obtaining right of ways and easements where required, and the ability to make the appropriate notations on the field notes for the desktop teams
Ability to read and understand as build prints, and be able to identify conflicts with existing outside plant facilities, select routing of lines and equipment required for projects
Familiar with GIS (Geographic Information Systems), ESRI, and shapefile functionality
Able to identify different types of utilities, potential conflicts, and violations based on regulatory standards (RUS, NESC, GO95, NEC, etc.)

PRIMARY DUTIES
Design, develop, integrate, and implement electrical systems, controls, and equipment supporting glass manufacturing operations.
Oversee installation, testing, commissioning, and validation of electrical equipment, instrumentation, and control systems.
Analyze manufacturing processes to identify inefficiencies and apply data-driven optimization strategies (time and motion studies, workflow analysis, mathematical modeling, and simulation).
Design and improve facility layouts for manufacturing lines and warehouses, optimizing space utilization, material flow, ergonomics, and safety compliance.
Lead and implement automation, PLC programming, SCADA, instrumentation, and controls, improving system reliability and operational efficiency.
Develop and maintain quality control systems and strategies, ensuring compliance with industry standards, electrical codes, OSHA expectations, and manufacturing best practices.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, leadership, vendors, and contractors to execute process improvements, new technology integration, and facility expansions.
Diagnose and resolve electrical and production process issues, ensuring compliance with safety, performance, and regulatory requirements.
Prepare technical documentation, drawings, diagrams, procedures, and reports for internal leadership, audits, and project stakeholders.
Ensure all projects meet quality, budget, timeline, and operational expectations.
Provide on-site, full-time, hands-on engineering support in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED / DESIRED
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering (required).
U.S. Citizen or authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Minimum of 5 years of professional engineering experience in manufacturing, industrial systems, automation, or related environments.
Strong background in:
Electrical/Mechanical design & system integration
Control systems, instrumentation, and automation
Process improvement, workflow analysis, modeling, and simulation
Troubleshooting both electrical and production systems
Experience with PLC programming, SCADA, automation platforms, and industrial communication networks.
Working knowledge of electrical codes, safety standards, OSHA general industry expectations, and manufacturing best practices.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel (data analysis and reporting), Project, and PowerPoint.
Excellent analytical, communication, and collaboration skills with both technical and non-technical teams.
