Applies knowledge of the principles of growth and development to identify patient and family requirements relative to women of childbearing age and support persons. * Develops and implements health education programs designed to increase awareness and knowledge to patients planning to give birth. Evaluates the patients response to health education as it relates to the established goals and makes adjustments as needed. Keeps up-to-date on changes in labor and delivery technology to keep program material current. Exhibits understanding and knowledge required to provide information and service to all clients. Identifies crisis situations and acts accordingly. Interacts with participants throughout the course periods. * Consults with department leadership regarding patient care delivery systems to achieve desired patient outcomes. Documents relevant data in the medical record. Ensures safe transfer/transport of patients at all times. Follows up on patient referrals as needed. * Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
