Participates cooperatively with the principal in performance evaluations as stated in the district's policies and procedures.
Supports and implements strategies that enhance student performance on local, state, and federal assessments.
Performs other duties as assigned at the request of the superintendent, superintendent designee, or principal.

Salary Information
This position is in pay schedule and range 13-04 with pay starting from $27.00/hour - $35.06/hour. Pay will be set in accordance with the Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code in effect at the time of hire. A probationary period is required.
This position may receive supplemental (add-on) pay adjustments for additional credits relevant to the position that are over and above the credits needed for certification. This add-on ranges from $0.97/hour to $2.97/hour of additional pay, based on relevant credits and professional development actions, as allowed in Section A (4.12) of the Compensation Plan.

Job Details
This position is not eligible for remote work and will work on site. This is a year-round teaching position and is not seasonal.
This Job Opening recruits for multiple vacancies, so schedules may vary significantly based on the particular vacancy. Specifics can be discussed at time of interview. The most common schedule is Monday - Friday 7:45 AM - 4:30 PM. This position is FLSA Exempt.
This position is not anticipated to travel on a regular basis, but most DOC positions occasionally travel for training, meetings, conferences, or similar events.

Qualifications
Applicants must meet the Adult Basic Education (ABE) credentials determined by the Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS).
Applicants must meet at least one of the four criteria listed below in order to be eligible to move forward in the selection process:
1) Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in Elementary Education or Special Education.
2) Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in Secondary Education in the area of English, Math, Reading, Science, or Social Studies

4) Bachelor's Degree (or higher) with 15 combined semester credits in English, Math, Reading, Science, or Social Studies.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

The Michigan Works Academic team serves to develop and enhance academic and employability skill sets for participants interested in gaining an academic secondary credential and/or entry level employment. Skilled professionals meet participants at their unique skill levels to sharpen the minds of both youth and adults. The Michigan Works Academic team offers services that eliminate barriers to employment while instilling workplace etiquette and industry specific expectations to participants. This team will work in collaboration with both the Business and Talent teams to connect participants to employment opportunities, while ensuring participants complete appropriate employability trainings.
WHAT WE EXPECT FROM YOU:
Our long-term outcomes for the Adult Education Instructor would be to build relationships with all participants who come through our doors, encouraging and motivating students to be their best selves despite any barriers they may face. The Adult Education Instructor will work closely with the rest of the Adult Education Team and provide one-on-one or small group tutoring inmathematics, reading, science, and social studies GED concepts. The Adult Education Instructor will enroll and assess students as needed. The Adult Education Instructor will also monitor student progress on our online learning platform as well and assign practice GED tests as well as official GED tests and complete data entry and classroom attendance as needed.
Responsibilities:
The Adult Education Instructor is a key player within the Adult Education Team. With that said they will be given the tools and support needed to carry out and execute all the functions for the position in the best of their ability.
Teach adult education concepts using instructional methods for the adult learner in a one-on-one, small group, and/or classroom setting.
Develop lessons and curriculum based on the learning needs of culturally diverse and multi-skill level students to increase academic skills.
Implement a variety of instructional delivery methods to help students make learning gains.
Travel off-site to multiple locations as needed for GED corrections instruction.
Complete and maintain student attendance, records, and ensure timely data entry in accordance with the MAERS User Manual.
Provide assistance and support to learners in the learning lab and by connecting learners to our online learning platform.
Be motivational and inspiring to learners along their educational journey
Ability to stay up-to-date on all documentation for local, state and federal levels.
Conduct regular check-ins with learners to support retention efforts.
Assist in the development of academic and other resources to enhance the program and adult learner success.

Collaborate with the Michigan Works team to co-enroll students in supportive programs and connect them with employment opportunities.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Valid Michigan Teaching Certification.
