Position Details
Math Tutors (Part-Time) - Estero, FLMathnasium Estero is seeking to fill 4-5 Part-Time Math Tutor positions at our center located at Grande Oak Shoppes Plaza (next to Publix at Corkscrew Road, Estero). Our tutors get trained in the proprietary Mathnasium Teaching Method and will apply the same and also use direct teaching and Socratic questioning techniques to trigger the thought process in kids to help with problem solving and understanding various math concepts.
This is a MID-AFTERNOON/EVENING/WEEKEND position with hours that vary between 3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. on Mondays through Thursdays and 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. on Saturdays.
Responsibilities include
* Complete the mandatory online training (10 hours) provided by Mathnasium to become our tutor
* Greet the students well, understand their mindset for the day and fine tune the teaching approach
* Create an engaging, positive, fun and productive learning environment
* Maintain a calm, courteous and professional attitude at all times
* Assist in evaluating and tracking the progress of each student through effective communication with manager and staff
* Perform operational functions as required

RESPONSIBILITIES
Adapt lessons to meet the needs of students.
Help shape and develop a school-wide culture that fosters a productive and enthusiastic learning environment for each student.
Establish and maintain a cooperative working relationship with students and families based on trust, understanding, and respect for the communities in which they identify.
Implement and uphold BPA behavior management system that aligns with campus-wide initiatives while developing students' character and sense of community in the classroom.
Complete all lesson internalization based on curriculum vision to achieve district goals
Collect and analyze student data to make effective decisions to maximize achievement
Discuss student's progress with parents, teachers, counselors, and administrators
Implement state learning standards and BPA curricula and assessments to meet ambitious academic expectations.
Implement formal and informal assessments to track each student's progress and learning needs, adjust lesson plans accordingly and update the grade book weekly.
Communicate students' progress with students and families every week
Effective facilitation and personal use of technology as a communication and educational tool to improve student achievement and manage work-related tasks.
Host necessary tutoring sessions to meet all students' needs.
Participate in weekly check-ins, grade-level meetings, before and after-school duties, and school-wide meetings and functions.
Engage in summer and year-long district, school, and personal learning and development.
Minimum of 40+ hours spent at school per week

Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year educational institution
