About El Camino Elementary

The school will continue to grow annually, adding one grade per year until it reaches 5th grade.
The Role of a Founding Kindergarten Teacher at El Camino
The Founding Kindergarten Teacher plays a vital role in laying the academic foundation for all future learning at El Camino. Kindergarten is a transformational year in which students develop early literacy and numeracy skills, learn how to be part of a school community, and build the habits and confidence needed to succeed as joyful, independent learners.
As part of a growing, founding campus, Kindergarten teachers are both educators and builders. They partner closely with teammates and school leaders to establish strong routines, instructional systems, and a nurturing, high-expectations classroom culture. This role requires flexibility, patience, and a deep understanding of early childhood development, as teachers help shape what learning looks and feels like at El Camino.
Founding Kindergarten Teachers are expected to deliver high-quality, standards-aligned instruction across all content areas, with a strong emphasis on early literacy and mathematics. Instruction is developmentally appropriate, intentional, and engaging, supporting students as they build phonemic awareness, letter-sound knowledge, early reading and writing skills, and foundational math concepts. Teachers use ongoing data and observation to guide instruction, provide targeted support, and ensure all students make meaningful progress-academically, socially, and emotionally-during this critical year of school.
