Teach four sections of ICT algebra, leveraging both class time and prep opportunities like Mock Exams and Saturday prep to ensure that 95%+ passing the Regents Exam;
Build strong relationships with students, families, and the Bronx community;
Lead an advisory, supporting and mentoring 10-15 students and building close relationships with their families;
Collaborate with faculty, students, and parents to build an innovative, exciting, and effective school model that achieves our mission and impacts education reform nationwide.
Teachers hours will be 8:15-4:30 daily, with the student academic day running from 9:00-1:30 on Wednesdays, and 9:00-4:30 on other days. Teachers may elect to lead an after-school extra-curricular club or coach a sport for an additional stipend. In the summer of the upcoming school year new teacher PD will begin around July 25th, and the school year will begin in late August.

The ENL Teacher will maintain appropriate student records, assess student progress per NYS requirements, and collaborate closely with colleagues to ensure high-quality instruction and student success. Responsibilities
The ENL/ELL Teacher will support the Leadership Team by providing instructional support to ensure that all students reach their full academic potential. In addition, the ENL Teacher will collaborate with the ELL Specialist and classroom teachers to share best practices and model effective instructional strategies across all content areas.
Instructional Responsibilities
* Actively monitor and support the progress of English Language Learners (ELLs), collaborating with staff to make instructional decisions based on achievement data.
* Serve as an expert in research-based trends, scaffolds, and best practices for ELL instruction and differentiation.
* Design, modify, and implement ENL curriculum and content-area supports that reflect the NYS Learning Standards and the Bilingual Common Core Progressions.
* Lead the design and facilitation of targeted support sessions, small group instruction, and project-based learning experiences.
* Foster a classroom environment that promotes engagement, literacy, and cross-cultural understanding through diverse texts and genres.
Collaboration and Leadership
* Collaborate with teachers across departments to integrate ENL supports and co-plan instruction that meets the needs of multilingual learners.
* Participate in professional learning communities, school committees, and curriculum development initiatives.
* Provide peer coaching, classroom observations, and feedback to colleagues to strengthen instructional practices.
* Assist with the coordination and implementation of school-wide academic and cultural initiatives.
Family and Community Engagement
* Communicate regularly with families of ELL students to provide updates on progress, celebrate growth, and strengthen home-school partnerships.
* Collaborate with translators or bilingual staff to ensure accessibility and inclusion for multilingual families.
* Participate in family engagement events and workshops to promote literacy, language development, and academic success.
Technology and Data
* Utilize digital tools such as Canvas, PowerSchool, and Google Workspace to plan lessons, track student progress, and communicate effectively.
* Employ data systems to document student growth, monitor compliance, and inform instruction.
* Integrate technology creatively into lessons to enhance language learning and student collaboration.

Qualifications, Education, and Credentials
* Bachelor's degree
* At least two years of experience teaching in an urban high school setting
* New York State certification

The Job: SmartStart Education seeks a small group Math tutor to work with small groups of middle school students on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Each small group consists of 1-4 students. Each group consists of students who have been identified as students who are struggling with fundamental Math skills. Students are from 6th through 8th Grade. The tutor will work with each group several times throughout the week at an elementary school in Bronx, NY. Groups will take place within the classroom (push-in services) or outside of the classroom (pull-out services). Tutors should be flexible and comfortable with both settings. Each tutor will be given the responsibility of taking daily attendance and monitoring student progress using a personal device (mobile phone). Job Details: The tutoring position begins promptly on December 5th, 2025 and ends on March 27th, 2026. The schedule will be 8:00am through 2:20pm.
