Special Education Teacher Key Responsibilities:
Lesson Plan Development: Create effective lesson plans to be submitted each Friday for the following week. Plans should accommodate various student levels, include procedures for assessing knowledge, outline the content standards addressed, and specify the curriculum used.
Supervision of Paraprofessionals: Oversee and direct paraprofessionals assigned to the classroom. While Program Supervisors and Site Administrators will assist in supervision, it is the teacher's primary responsibility in the classroom.
Implementation of PBIS Program: Manage the classroom's Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) program, including tracking behavior points, maintaining the student store, and communicating with parents/guardians. Ensure daily documentation of behavioral data in Point Quest's database.
Classroom Management: Maintain a classroom environment that prioritizes student engagement and safety, implementing the behavior plan, modifying state-adopted curriculum, and employing strategies to effectively teach students with various disabilities.
IEP Meetings and Documentation: Attend IEP meetings for students assigned to the classroom. Write updates for each student's annual IEP in coordination with the school district, and enter all IEP updates (Present Levels, BIP, ITP, and Goals) into SEIS 7 days prior to the scheduled meeting.
Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other staff and outside agencies to effectively educate each student.
Instructional Planning: Plan instruction and design learning experiences based on data. Conduct summative assessments with each student no less than three times per year.
Professional Development: Participate in ongoing professional development activities, including twice-monthly teacher meetings and monthly all-staff trainings. Teachers are encouraged to engage in additional professional development outside of Point Quest.
Special Education Teacher Qualifications:
Education & Credentials: Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in Special Education strongly recommended. Valid CA Special Education Credential (Intern, Preliminary, Clear, Level 1, Level 2 acceptable). Educational Specialist Credential in Mild/Moderate or Moderate/Severe disabilities, depending on classroom assignment.
Experience: 2-5 years working with students with learning and/or social-emotional needs. Experience in running a special day class and implementing curriculum and behavior interventions.
Skills: Proficient in written and verbal English, including business writing and professional communication. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Computer-literate with knowledge of standard software applications and internet.
Certifications & Clearances: DOJ/FBI Live Scan Background & TB Clearance required. Pro-Act, CPI, and/or CPR certification preferred.

As a member of the Cristo Rey Orlando faculty, you will play a key role in facilitating student learning, continuously assessing progress, and contributing to the development of a robust math curriculum.
You will also be responsible for creating a classroom environment that emphasizes bell-to-bell instruction, ensuring that every minute supports student growth. With a focus on intervention and enrichment, you will implement strategies to meet the diverse needs of students, helping them reach their academic potential.
In addition to teaching, faculty members at Cristo Rey Orlando supervise students, ensuring their safety and adherence to school rules, while participating in the holistic development of the school's program of studies. You will strive to teach and model being men and women for others, interacting positively with students, offering both academic and personal guidance, and taking an active role in celebrating and upholding the faith-based identity of the school. Preference is given to candidates who are eager to engage in the school community by moderating clubs, coaching athletic teams, and serving as adult leaders on retreats.Responsibilities include:
Develop Hands-On Lessons: Create and deliver culturally relevant, hands-on lessons that connect Algebra 1 and Geometry math concepts to real-life situations, making learning engaging and applicable for students.
Curriculum Writing and Analysis: Regularly develop and update course materials using backward planning, assessment data, and ongoing curriculum analysis to meet the needs of all students while aligning with school standards.
Data-Driven Instruction: Use student assessment data to refine lesson plans and provide targeted interventions and enrichment, helping each student thrive.
Engaging Classroom Environment: Foster an engaging, dynamic classroom that challenges students while accommodating their diverse learning styles.
High Academic Expectations: Maintain high academic standards for all students, providing the support and challenges needed for them to reach their full potential.
Family Engagement: Build strong relationships with families to ensure open communication and collaboration in supporting student success.

The Math teacher reports to and will work directly with the Founding Principal and Founding Assistant Principal and collaborate with the Founding Dean of Curriculum & Culture and Founding Math Coach. Required Qualifications
You hold a Bachelor's Degree in math or a related field, with a minimum of 12 credit hours in education preferred. Masters Degree is a plus.
You have a Permanent Teacher Certification in the subject area.
You bring 3-5 years of teaching experience, with experience in marginalized communities being a strong advantage.
Training in math pedagogy, hands-on learning strategies, or working with students with special needs is preferred but not required.
Youre reliable, with consistent, on-time attendance for supervising and instructing students.
You appreciate and support the schools unique mission and are committed to the values of faith-based education.

Preferred Experience and Skills
Strong knowledge and experience in teaching Algebra 1 and Geometry, with a solid understanding of the BEST FL Standards for Mathematics and the Silicon Valley Math Initiative curriculum and assessments.
Ability to develop and implement Algebra 1 and Geometry curriculum that aligns with state standards while incorporating real-life applications and innovative teaching strategies.
Experience in utilizing assessments from the Silicon Valley Math Initiative to monitor student progress and adjust instruction for optimal learning outcomes.
Ability to support at-risk students by developing individualized academic plans and working collaboratively with peers, parents, and leadership team to ensure student success in Algebra 1 and Geometry.
Proficient in educational technology, data analysis tools, and student performance tracking to enhance curriculum effectiveness and improve student outcomes in math.
Proficiency in Spanish is preferred to better engage with a diverse school community.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and other relevant technology platforms for curriculum planning, communication, and student data management.
