What a day in the life of a Teacher looks like:
Create a fun, engaging learning environment that works for everyone, using the right materials and teaching methods to support students' learning and well-being.
Design and deliver lesson plans that get students excited to learn and are tailored to meet the needs of each student, especially those with personalized education plans, special needs or who need extra support.
Be there for the youth, their families, fellow staff and other support teams. This includes open communication, positive role modeling, showing youth how to regulate emotions, build healthy relationships, and teaching life skills.
Follow the Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) curriculum, making sure it's inclusive and culturally sensitive.

What you bring to the table:
Minimum of a bachelor's degree
At least 21 years old
A valid Wisconsin teaching certificate.
Experience working with students who are historically disadvantaged, or have emotional or behavioral challenges (EBD), with 2-3 years of successful classroom management.
Know your way around a computer and MS Office
Possess patience with a positive, confident approach, understanding & trauma-focused care, especially when things get rough
Celebrate different cultures, backgrounds, and abilities
Ability to be physically engaged and lift at least 30 lbs as we interact with young, active youth. In rare cases, you might need to physically intervene to keep everyone safe.
