An Academic Center for Excellence Tutor is responsible for supporting students by providing academic and/or organizational enrichment to help students excel. JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Manage the classroom effectively to encourage student participation, minimize distractions and maintain a positive learning environment Maintain a clean, respectful, and orderly classroom, and follow classroom and school procedures as directed by the school Communicate in a friendly and positive manner towards staff/administrators, students, parents, etc. Protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities Ensure the safety/confidentiality of students at all times Keep records on attendance, accident/incidents Leaves notes for the regular teacher at the end of the teaching day went Adapt teaching methods to fit the needs of each individual student Implement and teach lesson plans and instructions as directed by the absent teacher, or consult with principal or other responsible staff if lesson plan is not provided

Qualifications: · Must have a high school diploma with 2.0 GPA or higher. · Must be at least 21 years old. · Must provide three (3) professional references. · Must demonstrate eligibility to work in the United States. · Must have proof of a completed background check for the State Department of Education. Typically includes a fingerprint-based criminal background check, which often includes child abuse and neglect registry check, or as required by state law and/or school district policy. · Must have proof of results of TB test required for the State Department of Education. · Must have a current Substitute License or Authorization, if available in your state. · Strong communication and classroom management skills. · Ability to adapt quickly to different educational settings and grade levels. · Passion for education and making a positive impact on students' lives. Desired · Previous experience in teaching or substitute teaching is highly desirable. Job Responsibilities: Teach/tutor in-center, online, and/or via hybrid delivery using the Mathnasium Method™, terminology, and teaching practices Work collaboratively with team members to deliver individualized instruction in a group setting Assess students' learning progress and engagement throughout instructional sessions Become proficient with digital educational materials and processes Support the maintenance of a safe and professional learning environment Flexible work schedule of 2-3 days per week Qualifications: Passion for math and working with students Excellent interpersonal skills Eagerness to learn and be trained Exceptional math competency through at least Algebra I Ability to balance various ongoing tasks 6 month or longer commitment Training: Learn the Mathnasium Method and best teaching practices through videos, printed material and shadowing instructors (30 hours) On-going training includes learning Mathnasium material and methods to support homework Pay is adjusted upon training completion and performance We do not hire seasonal due to the length of training. All applicants will be required to take a math literacy test to demonstrate math proficiency, provide work authorization, and pass a background check. Starting pay is $11.00 per hour, with raises upon completion of training levels. Compensation: $11.00 per hour Mathnasium locations are independently owned and operated by franchisees of Mathnasium Center Licensing, LLC ("Mathnasium"). Franchisees are independent business people and not employed by Mathnasium. Thus, each franchisee and each franchisee center is unique and the franchisee is alone responsible for all employment matters in their center. If you are hired to work at a center, the franchisee will be your employer, not Mathnasium.
