Math Tutor Careers

A math tutor is an individual teaching student in the subject of mathematics. Nowadays, tutoring has become a modern alternative to traditional schooling, as more and more students stay at home due to the Covid virus pandemic. Many people learn mathematics because it is a business fundamental and can be applied to many industries, such as accounting, engineering, and manufacturing.

The duties of a math tutor include creating an individualized course syllabus, producing course materials, assisting students in developing mathematical analysis skills, and conducting formal assessments. Besides that, they also help in preparing work assignments and communicating with parents on student progress.

A math tutor is required to have a minimum of a high school diploma. In cases of teaching higher-level mathematics, a STEM-related bachelor's degree will be needed. They earn, on average, $16 per hour. Being a math tutor can open up unique opportunities, as in the case of Salman Khan, the founder of Khan Academy, a free online education platform that got its start from teaching students mathematics through video uploads on YouTube.

There is more than meets the eye when it comes to being a math tutor. For example, did you know that they make an average of $19.16 an hour? That's $39,843 a year!
