Purpose of Position
Help students to become better independent learners by assisting them in the understanding of course material and answering their questions.
This is a part-time, non-benefited position. Only UND students are eligible to be hired in this position.
Duties & Responsibilities
Help students to become better independent learners by:
Assisting students in the understanding of course material
Identifying strengths and areas of improvement regarding the content of the coursework and study habits
Answering student questions and guiding them through class assignments
Conducting review sessions before exams
Completion of CRLA-certified tutoring training
Maintain accurate records of tutoring sessions and hours worked
Other duties as assigned by the Tutor Coordinator
Minimum Requirements
Proof of understanding of course material, evidenced by a minimum grade of B in the course (or equivalent coursework) for which you will tutor
A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0

If a child is acting out it is usually done for attention. Try not to feed into this behavior by constantly giving your attention to that child rather than the lead teacher

Shall certify completion of a department-approved basic child care course within the first three months of employment, with the exception of substitute staff members and emergency designees;
Shall certify the staff member's own annual successful completion of the department-approved training related to child care as set forth below:
If working thirty or more hours per week, certify thirteen hours of department-approved training annually;
If working fewer than thirty hours and more than twenty hours per week, certify eleven hours of department-approved training annually;

Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with the school's curriculum and academic standards
Create a positive and inclusive learning environment where students feel motivated and supported
Utilize a variety of teaching strategies to accommodate different learning styles and abilities
Use technology to enhance instruction and student learning
Assess student progress and provide timely feedback to help students achieve academic success
Collaborate with colleagues to plan interdisciplinary projects and activities
Participate in professional development opportunities to continually improve teaching practices
Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school administration
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Education or related field
State teaching certification in Science (Middle School level)
Experience working with middle school students
Strong knowledge of science concepts and curriculum standards
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Passion for inspiring young minds and fostering a love of learning
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Commitment to continuous professional growth and development
