ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT: The Mathematics Department is part of the Mathematics and Science Division of Solano Community College. We offer an AST degree in Mathematics. Our courses are an integral part of many degrees offered at SCC. We work collaboratively with our science colleagues to create optimal and efficient schedules for many majors. We believe in the value of in person instruction. Our Statistics and Liberal Arts Mathematics courses have fully online options, but not some other STEM courses. The college requires that a majority of a teaching load be taught in person at our sites. We have classes at the main campus in Fairfield, at our satellite campuses in Vacaville and Vallejo, at the Air Force Base and in the prison system. DESCRIPTION: The successful candidate will be able to teach mathematics courses and be an active participant in a department with 11 full time instructors who teach at the main Fairfield campus, the centers in Vacaville and Vallejo, and online. The successful candidate must be able to teach a broad range of mathematics courses. Candidates must have expertise in statistics and/or calculus and beyond. We are also interested in candidates with experience teaching linear algebra, college algebra, analytic geometry, trigonometry, etc. The ability to use and expand the use of current technologies in the classroom and incorporate active learning strategies will be expected. The candidate will participate with departmental colleagues in developing and expanding the curriculum for course delivery on the Fairfield campus and other District locations, including (but not limited to) the Vacaville Center and the Vallejo Center. The successful candidate will work collegially and harmoniously with faculty in the department and the District. Assignments may include primary teaching responsibilities at various District locations, for day or evening courses. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching and learning.
