Professional Tutors provide high-quality tutoring for the Center for Academic Success & Tutoring (CAST). The ideal Professional Tutor is friendly and approachable, responsible and reliable, organized and efficient, and can work with a diverse student body while always maintaining a professional demeanor. The ideal candidate must have solid interpersonal communication skills with a genuine desire to assist students. Professional Tutors work directly with students to help them clarify course concepts and materials, develop effective ways to learn the material, share learning resources and study strategies, and provide general course-related guidance. Tutors may also help with special tutoring-related projects or other duties as assigned by the Director. This position requires an understanding of and demonstrated experience with best practices and theories related to tutoring and/or teaching.
