Position Overview
We are seeking a certified and experienced MathTutor specializing in SAT/ACT preparation for students in grades 6-12. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in advanced mathematics and a proven track record of helping students succeed in standardized tests. Expertise in Algebra, Geometry, Calculus, and Statistics (including AP levels) is essential.

Key Responsibilities
Deliver the GenNext Math curriculum with excellence and adaptability.

Provide academic instruction to students with disabilities in a variety of subjects using evidence-based techniques such as multisensory learning, repetition, or phonetics.
Use instructional time effectively and efficiently, while facilitating the integration of related services into the instructional program.
Choose and implement instructional techniques and strategies that promote successful transitions for individuals with disabilities. Create varied opportunities for all students to use effective written, verbal, nonverbal, and visual communication appropriate to each student.

Wharton County Junior College (WCJC) provides three retirement plans for it's part time employees. Part time employees must select and contribute to one of these three retirement plans.

Social Security

403b Tax Sheltered Annuity
The 403b Tax Sheltered Annuity is a retirement plan offered by WCJC through TIA-CREF. Employees choosing this tax sheltered retirement fund contribute 7.50% of their gross income. Contributions to TIAA-CREF are made with pre-tax dollars. The money earned by the plan is tax sheltered until withdrawn. Employees who choose TIAA-CREF vest in the retirement fund with their first contribution. An employee, upon termination of employment with WCJC, is eligible to withdraw their vested funds from the 403b plan subject to the penalties and terms of the TIAA-CREF and IRS rules concerning 403b plans.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Lesson plans must be engaging and meet the grant requirements. Teachers are also responsible for classroom and time management to ensure that students are progressing throughout the school year. Teachers will need to provide accurate assessments to show student progress bi-weekly. Teachers are also responsible for the duties as assigned by the Site coordinator as ACE grows.
Academic Activities:
Make fun and engaging lesson plans based on the school day curriculum to improve students' grades. Teachers will periodically lead small group tutorials in reading, writing, and math to focus on students who may be falling behind.
Homework Help:
Create a quiet, productive environment for students to complete homework and independent reading. Assist students as needed with academics and any technological challenges that may arise.
Teacher Activities:
Ratios vary. Design lesson plans based on student interest and school day needs. Examples include: Mario-themed math, reading outside, service learning pro, and STEM activities. Teachers, on their own, may be responsible for leading a group of no more than 20 students. The teacher may be assisted by another staff member as well. This will allow the teacher to support more students with stronger small group interactions.

* Interact daily with students, Enrichment counselors, parents, co-workers, and supervisors in a professional and friendly manner.
* Participate in mandatory staff meetings and full-day training as required.
