I am a seasoned engineering leader with 15 years of experience who has a broad range of experiences as a developer, architect, manager, and executive. My background has focused mainly on web technologies and applications, including back end, front end, consumer internet, enterprise platforms, and gaming. During my career, I have mostly worked for a range of startups and mid sized companies, where I was given the opportunity to grow without boundaries. Having launched several successful companies, and founded two, I have an acute understanding of what it takes to be successful as a leader and executive. As an agent of change, I feel total satisfaction from perfecting engineering process, building amazing products, and transforming technology organizations into well running operations. Beyond the technical scope, I have a strong sense of business, and have held several positions where I played a leading role in the ultimate success of the venture. Peter is the Chief Executive Officer of GREATER MSP where he has held leadership positions for 6 years. Most recently serving as Senior Vice President of Strategy and Partnership and Chief of Staff where he was responsible for developing and implementing the economic development strategy for the Minneapolis-Saint Paul region. Internationally recognized as a leader in economic development, Peter has created and executed numerous ground-breaking strategic initiatives that have become national best practices. For example, “Make it. MSP™” - the talent and attraction initiative for the Minneapolis Saint Paul region - was recognized as the country’s best talent effort in 2018 by the International Economic Development Council. Peter also developed the Regional Indicators Dashboard, a comprehensive assessment of the region’s economic performance, now widely emulated by other cities across the country. Peter has been at the center of an effort to accelerate GREATER MSP’s impact in the community. Working with the Board of Directors and dozens of other leaders throughout the region, Peter helped shape “Partnership 2.0” a new vision, mission and structure for GREATER MSP that places it at the forefront of economic development groups nationwide. Building cross-sector partnerships leading to transformative results, Peter was a Legislative Director for Congresswoman Betty McCollum, where he helped secure federal funding for the Green Line Light Rail and restoration of Saint Paul’s Union Depot. He also created bipartisan legislation with the Global Food Security Act to address the global hunger crisis, which was signed by President Obama. Previously, as Director at Minneapolis-based Environmental Initiative, Peter collaborated with former Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty to create Clean Water Legacy. This statewide effort resulted in passage of the nation’s first constitutional amendment to protect clean water, parks, habitat and the arts.
