Our Telemetry Monitor Technicians observe and monitor cardiac rhythms, recognize changes in regularity, configuration and rate of rhythm and report findings to nurse. They then accurately document and communicate monitored recordings.
Performs continuous, accurate observations and interpretations of rhythms while promoting safe monitoring.
* Identifies and enters the patient information. Measures and reports intervals of the cardiac rhythm and other parameters at designated intervals. Reports significant changes in monitor patterns and follows the scope of practice expectations.
* Accurately recognizes and reports life threatening arrhythmias (i.e. Asystole, Vfib, Vtach) following department protocols.
* Collaborate with RN to ensure appropriate alarms are set based on physician order or individual need.
* Assure constant coverage of patient monitoring station.
* Maintains a high focus on patient safety by troubleshooting equipment problems
* Notifies appropriate person of needed battery replacement or electrode replacement in a timely manner.
* Demonstrates yearly proficiency in skills necessary to ensure adequate knowledge of ECG interpretation and maintenance of monitoring equipment.
Demonstrates appropriate documentation and communication.
Demonstrates proper maintenance and inventory of all equipment.
Assumes an active role in mentoring team members.

The Lead Cardiac Monitoring and Interpreting Technician is a technical subject matter expert that supports leadership efforts by providing training and troubleshooting support while also contributing to quality and process improvement efforts throughout the lab. Additionally, the Lead Cardiac Monitoring and Interpreting Technician provides surveillance, analysis, synthesis and preliminary interpretation of patient's heart rhythm patterns and physiological parameters while at rest and/or during exercise and/or in response to medication administration or other impacting procedure. The Cardiac Monitoring and Interpreting Technician provides direct patient care for a variety of patient populations. Responsibilities also include a working knowledge of various monitoring/testing devices and systems, equipment calibration, identifying and troubleshooting equipment failures, preparing patients/equipment for testing and/or monitoring, assessing for appropriate type of testing/monitoring, providing patient education on procedures, and accurately recording physiological data and preliminary interpretations in multiple reporting systems. The Cardiac Monitoring and Interpreting Technician works in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team, communicating abnormal or critical physiological responses and activating medical emergencies response plans.

Unit Technicians assist with patient care to support the nursing practice of the unit under the direction of a registered nurse and/or licensed medical professional. The Unit Technician carries out designated activities that are within those functions limited by law to unlicensed nursing personnel. The Cardiac Unit Technicians provide 24/7 continues surveillance, analysis and interpretation of patient's heart rhythm patterns, blood pressure and continues pulse oximetry (sp O2) for inpatients. The ED Technician collaborates with nursing and consultants/providers when patient parameters are abnormal or critical. The ED Technician identifies and activates medical emergencies response plans (performs assigned duties, i.e. Lucas device procurement and application). The ED Technician is responsible for performing ECGs and splinting along with other duties as assigned in the emergency department setting as directed by licensed medical personnel.
18 years old and completion of 12 college credits -OR- High school diploma/ GED with successful completion of a Nursing Assistant training or equivalent.
Basic computer knowledge and skills required. Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines required. Must demonstrate excellent organizational, communication, writing and listening skills.
