Working with the clients is the best part of working at this company.
People in upper management are discriminatory towards employees who have disabilities. So, for a company who provides services for adults with disabilities, and are supposed to be encouraging them to live their lives as independently as possible. Their bias, completely disregards what the company is supposed to be doing, and is supposed to stand for.
I do not care for anyone who fosters this bias within their company and allows it to be commonplace with the people in the most leadership roles within the company. If people in upper management are prejudiced against someone who has a disability working for them, then it makes you wonder what do they really think of the clients that receive services from them.
I would get rid of the mentality that people can discriminate against someone with a disability who works for them. It’s illegal and completely goes against their entire mission statement of providing services to help others to become the most independent as possible.
I worked for this company, then had to leave due to illness. When I reapplied after a few years, I was sent a letter stating I wasn’t qualified to work doing the same job that I had previously worked. It caused me to shut down because I felt the stigma from this employer, and their bias, because they knew I had a disability by the time I had reapplied. I can’t prepare for something like that, because it should never happen. But it did happen at this company. So, the head of HR as well as some other people in management positions participated in this discrimination. Because when I finally asked, they tried to smear my name by saying I had been late or didn’t show up. Unless they went backwards and created false documentation, then there would be nothing there for them to show that this was accurate. I had good reviews and I have a good work ethic. They are despicable to me and should not be representing this company, or the company should just close its doors.
I wouldn’t know what their compensation rate is currently. It was mid range for this type of work when I was employed there.
I feel like I have stated. They discriminated against me because of my disability. As an agency providing services for disabled adults, they shouldn’t be even allowed to keep their doors open if the mentality of management is like this. If I had a loved one in the care of this company, I would remove them if I heard this. Because I would be very concerned about how they were actually being treated. I would be concerned about the bias that some people who work to help run this company have against disabled adults.
The clients.
