2006

In January 2006, McAfee agreed to pay a fine of US$50 million to the SEC for accounting fraud known as channel stuffing that served to inflate their revenue to their investors.

2007

On November 19, 2007, McAfee agreed to purchase SafeBoot for $350 million.

McAfee announced the Security Innovation Alliance (SIA) in 2007, a programme aimed at forging collaborations with other tech businesses and combining third-party technologies with McAfee’s security and risk management technology.

2008

McAfee announced a licencing deal with the US Department of Defence in March 2008.

On September 22, 2008, McAfee announced its intention to acquire Secure Computing.

2009

In July 2009, McAfee acquired managed email and web security vendor MX Logic.

2010

On August 19, 2010, Intel announced that it would buy McAfee for $48 a share in a deal valued at $7.68 billion.

2011

In October 2011, McAfee acquired privately owned NitroSecurity, a developer of high-performance security information and event management (SIEM) solutions that protect critical information and infrastructure.

2013

In July 2013, McAfee completed the tender offer for Finnish network firewall design company Stonesoft Oyj worth $389 million in cash.

2017

With its Secure Home Platform, it entered the consumer Internet of Things industry in 2017.

2019

In 2019, when the company went public, it was estimated to be worth $8 billion or more.

2020

In March 2020, McAfee acquired Lightpoint Security, which will extend the capabilities of multiple McAfee products.

In an IPO in October 2020, McAfee and its investors collected $740 million, valuing the business at about $8.6 billion based on the shares declared in the prospectus.
