Job Description
Under the direction of a Radiologist, the Radiologic Technologist performs Radiologic procedures to evaluate pathological entities as ordered by a physician. The technologist utilizes independent judgment in determining appropriate radiographic techniques, positioning, and safety practices.
Responsibilities
Explain examination procedures to patients and prepare them for examinations.
Review clinical data and perform appropriate examinations, obtaining necessary patient medical history.
Prepare and maintain the procedure room and regularly replenish stock such as linen and supplies.
Analyze anatomical structures, set up equipment, and perform Radiologic procedures using appropriate techniques.
Select and administer intravenous contrast media, monitoring for any reactions.
Implement radiation protection principles and ensure optimal patient safety and comfort.
Follow infection control practices and ensure the availability of sterile equipment.
Complete all necessary documentation in patient records and within the radiology information system.

Confirm clinical protocols with Radiologist before performing studies.
Demonstrate teamwork and communication standards in all interactions.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.
Certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) is required, or registry eligible.
Healthcare Provider certification (BCLS) required.
Must meet or exceed customer service standards outlined in the HFHS Customer Service Policy.
Minimum of 2 years experience required, with fluency in Fluoroscopy (GIs) and outpatient and ER exams.

Professionally Recognized Medical Assistant Certification from the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA/CMA), American Medical Technologists (RMA), National Health Career Associations Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), and National Center for Competency Testing National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) preferred.
Additional Requirements:
Graduate of a Medical Assistant program with completion of a formal clinical externship (160 hour minimum). OR
Graduate from a Medical Assistant program without completion of a clinical externship but with a minimum one-year experience in clinical medical assisting within the past five (5) years. OR
Current Professionally Recognized Medical Assistant Certification with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in clinical medical assisting. OR Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). OR
Licensed Paramedic/Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with at least one-year clinical experience in clinical medical setting within the past five (5) years. OR
Military trained medical personnel with at least one-year clinical experience in clinical medical setting within the past five (5) years.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:
Current BLS-C upon hire or successful completion by end of orientation.
