In 1852, the University obtained a charter from the Great Court of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to award its first formal degree.
In 1918, the University built the George Robert White Building in the Longwood Medical Area in Boston, across from Harvard Medical School to serve as its main campus.
In 1979, The General Court of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts approved a reform in the charter of the University to permit degree awarding authority in the allied health sciences, and the University formally changed its name to the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Sciences.
The Wall Street Journal/Times Higher Education College Rankings for 2018 puts MCPHS graduates on top.
In Money Magazine's 2020 list of Most Transformative Colleges, MCPHS ranks fourth in the nation.
