Pros of working at MCR Health Inc

As a travel nurse, I was given the opportunity to pick up a contract and I accepted... now I wish I didn't. The nurses I work with and pay ($32 an hour) are great, however, the rest is awful.

Cons of working at MCR Health Inc

I was trained for 2 weeks at a facility that I wasn't assigned to. After my training I got to my permanent facility, the Walk-In-Clinic, and I was given a brief tour (5mins) and was thrown into clinic right away. Now, I didn't train at this facility and being shown this for the first time and having to run a provider by myself was very overwhelming on the first day. Thankfully the provider I was with was nice about it. Speaking of providers, a majority of them in the Walk-In-Clinic are very kind, understanding and are wonderful to work with. But, there is one provider that is very rude and demeaning towards you. The Walk-In-Clinic it's self is very run down. We are always running out of medical supplies, the equipment break is old and breaking, there are leaky sinks, dirty floors, chipped paint, the furniture and beds are outdated (rusting & falling apart) and the nursing station is way to crowed. This facility needs to be gutted and redone. The Walk In Clinic does not have computers in the rooms, so you will have to carry around a laptop. On top of carrying your laptop, you have your mouse, patient tests and vitals machine, etc... Carrying all this all day every day can be a lot of the wrists and hands. I have only been at this facility for a short time and my hands and wrists ache. The clinic does not have a physical translation line phone on site, so you have to use your own personal phone to call the translation line. With that being said, your phone will be used a lot. Patients will try grabbing your personal phone to listen better. I don't know about you, but I do not like people touching my personal phone. I wish that the facility would have better accommodations for language barriers. I know that nursing in general we are short staffed, but this facility is extremely short staffed and has a very high turnover rate. There are more providers then there are nurses! So we will have 4 providers in Walk-In-Clinic and 3 nurses and each provider can see up to 25+ patients daily. I have only been here a couple weeks and I am exhausted. Management at this facility is unprofessional and rude. If you make the smallest mistake, they act like it is the end of the world. In my nursing career I have never experience a manager so unprofessional and rude. Also, some of there policy's they enforce don't make any sense or are outdated. In summary, just avoid this place all together. Please don't waste your time here.
