Position: Production Planner
Location: Calera, AL
Directly Reports to: Production Control Manager
We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Production Planner to collaborate with diverse stakeholders in a rapidly evolving, high-mix/low-volume manufacturing environment. The Production Planner will apply project management principles to initiate, plan, execute, monitor, and close projects, ensuring effective and successful planning processes. This position will analyze historical data for informed decision-making and to improve forecast accuracy while reducing stockouts and overproduction, ensuring a commitment to high-quality standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Ensure personal safety and the safety of your team members.
Partner with Sales, Engineering, and Customer Service to understand and validate sales order demand (MTO) and forecasted demand (MTS); develop and maintain master production schedules (MPS for both MTO and MTS products
Identify and define production planning requirements based on customer commitments, inventory levels, and capacity constraints.
Initiate planning cycles in D365 to generate MRP outputs and align with business goals.
Translate sales orders and forecasts into executable production plans using D365 MRP.
Balance demand with available capacity, material availability, and lead times.
Coordinate with Purchasing to ensure timely procurement of materials based on MRP outputs.
Plan inventory levels, reorder points, safety stock, and lot sizes to support MTS strategy.
Maintain planning parameters in D365 such as lead times, safety stock levels, min/max order quantities, and reorder points.
Issue daily and weekly production schedules to the Shop Superintendent/Supervisor.
Release work orders in D365 based on material availability and shop floor capacity.
Ensure timely execution of production orders to meet customer ship dates and OTD (On-Time Delivery) targets.
Coordinate with Quality to ensure production adheres to QMS standards and specifications.
Communicate with Shipping to ensure timely dispatch of completed goods.
Monitor production progress and adjust schedules as needed to respond to changes in demand, capacity, or material availability.
Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) such as OTD, backlog, and schedule adherence.
Maintain accurate and current data in D365, including work order status, ship dates, and inventory levels.
Use visual management tools (e.g., production boards, resource boards) to track daily goals and performance.
Identify and resolve bottlenecks or constraints in production flow; coordinate with other MPI locations as needed.
Ensure proper documentation and communication of scrap/rework processes in D365 and QT9.
Ensure proper closure of work orders in D365 before shipment (RAF and Ended).
Ensure materials and labor are allocated to the work order.
Conduct post-production analysis to identify variances and opportunities for improvement.
Complete transactions for variances from issued w/o to completion.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to planning, scheduling, and inventory management.
Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor's degree in business administration, management, or other relevant field or combination of education, training, and work experience.
Minimum 3 years' experience in inventory management, supply chain, project management, or warehouse management
Proficiency with MS Office suite
Working knowledge of D365 preferred

The Machine operator sets up and operates a production machine in accordance with established procedures and guidelines. Uses computer-controlled equipment to select, position and secure automatic or semi-automatic machines. Controls and adjusts machine settings to complete tasks accurately, according to specifications, and in a timely fashion.
What you will be doing:

A Brief Summary of This Position:
The Regional Quality Manager (RQM) is responsible for providing Quality Assurance guidance and support to their respective manufacturing locations. This includes indirect supervision or strong dotted line reporting structure between the RQM and plant quality personnel. This dotted line reporting structure ensures the RQM's have a voice in plant quality activities. As such, the RQM will provide quality related guidance directly to plant quality personnel. Additionally, the RQM is expected to work with plant management to help them understand how their plants are performing relative to quality requirements, and work with them on areas of opportunity. The RQM works directly with the plant quality representatives to evaluate quality metrics, which includes evaluating Cost of Poor Quality (CoPQ) data, identifying areas of opportunity, and implementing solutions. At times the RQM provides high-level guidance, participates as part of a factory led team, or lead events. RQM's also support QMS compliance, participate in and/or lead third party and customer audits, RCCA (root cause and corrective Action) review and approval, contract review, etc. The incumbent must be capable of distinguishing between Quality requirements that may vary significantly between the ESS and Utility divisions, different market channels present within each division, design types, special customer requirements and several national or international welding and inspection standard guidelines or codes. A thorough understanding of welding processes used at each site is necessary. An RQM has stop work authority as it pertains to non-conforming product.
Essential Functions:
This position reports into Vice President of Concrete and has no direct reports
This role requires travel to the different concrete plants throughout North America. While the amount of travel will ebb and flow, it is reasonable to assume travel time may be 25%- 50%
Assess all quality metrics to determine where the best opportunities are to reduce cost (e.g., CoPQ, FPY, field issues, etc.)
Provide overall QA guidance to manufacturing site quality personnel
Guide and support QC teams at respective manufacturing plants to recognize, prevent, and correct defects before they reach the customer
Provide containment, root cause, and corrective action guidance to respective plants
Work with plant quality personnel to understand and evaluate quality metrics
Provide guidance to plant management relative to plant performance as it relates to quality
Ensure standardized inspection processes are in place at manufacturing sites
Ensure inspection requirements are clearly communicated to the QC teams including inspector certification requirements
Investigation of customer complaints and implementing or issuing corrective actions as needed
Support QMS compliance
Lead and/or assist with customer and 3rd party audits
Review and approve quality related RCCA
Participate in contract/specification review
Assist with R&D efforts for new products or designs; specifically, developing inspection criteria
Assist with MOC (Management of Change) process for quality related items

An Ultrasonic Technician is responsible for calibrating and operating various ultrasonic testing systems for the purpose of inspecting the electric resistance weld of steel pipe to the applicable standard. They also perform general inspections on Steel Pipe products in order to identify pipe manufacturing quality issues and communicates with production and quality personnel regarding these findings.
Ideal Candidate
* Prior ultrasonic testing experience.
* Prior experience as a Quality Assurance Inspector or Lab Technician Mechanical Testing within a manufacturing environment.
* Has successfully completed Ultrasonic Level I and Level II course work and can provide documented evidence of completion.
* Possessed one or more of the following Ultrasonic Level II certifications: Visual Testing, Magnetic Particle, Liquid Penetrant, Radiography.
* Holds or has held documented evidence of an Ultrasonic Shear Wave Level II Certification.
Additional Job Duties
* Administers Magnetic particle tests areas indicated by the ultrasonic systems, as deemed necessary, and magnetic particle inspects the outer surface weld seam as required.
* Performs visual inspection of pipe Outer Diameter, Inner Diameter, and bevels for specification conformity. Performs dimensional checks on pipe such as straightness, ovality, wall thickness, squareness, etc.
* Detects all discontinuities in weld.
* Determines the acceptance or rejection based on evaluation of signal response to applicable standards.
* Selects and identifies pipe for lab testing, as well as samples to be cut and broken or polished for continuing metallographic study of product quality. Operates Plasma torch and Hydraulic press.
* Verifies pipe identity and keeps a permanent record, written or electronic, of defects and the final disposition of pipe through data entry within the Manufacturing Execution System.
* Verifies NDT system calibration.
* Be very familiar with the products and processes that are being used in order to explain ultrasonic inspection to customers.
* Watches for deformation of pipe occurring during hydrostatic testing, as required.
* Performs final line inspection and preliminary mill line inspection, as required, during normal production and performs other duties, as necessitated or directed, depending on shop conditions.
Minimum Qualifications:
* Must have successfully performed the job of Quality Assurance Inspector or Lab Technician Mechanical Testing (or similar job within a manufacturing environment).
* Must be capable of completing ASNT-TC-1A test and requirements for Level II ultrasonic testing, Magnetic Particle testing, and Level II visual testing within 2 years of being on the job.
* Must exhibit a high school diploma or equivalent.
* Must exhibit a tolerance for stress, the ability to manage multiple tasks, work independently, and meet deadlines under a dynamic work schedule. The nature of this position requires performing job duties with numerous interruptions.
* Must exhibit the ability to read and write legibly. Must exhibit the ability to communicate in a courteous, polite, and effective manner, both verbally and in written format.

A Brief Summary of This Position
This position serves as Valmont's EHS Specialist enabling overall company strategy in driving continuous improvement with EHS best practices across the organization. This position requires individual initiative on special projects to complete a wide variety of tasks that are part of Valmont's comprehensive EHS initiatives. This includes participating in and facilitating the site level EHS teams and initiatives. The position will support implementation of Valmont's EHS Playbook for the site. The EHS Specialist facilitates the alignment of the site's EHS activities with Valmont's overall enterprise wide EHS strategies. The incumbent is responsible to swiftly detect sub-standard EHS performance using leading and lagging indicators and take action in conjunction with appropriate site and regional leadership teams. It is critical that the EHS Specialist assists others in their growth and knowledge in Safety, Health & Environmental practices. It is expected that the EHS Specialist interacts with site production employees to identify and control hazards that can result in harm. We're looking for an experienced and reliable team member to join our operation. Essential Functions
Reports directly to the Plant Manager, with matrixed reporting to the Regional Safety Manager and has no direct or indirect reports.
Supports development, maintenance, and continuous improvement efforts to facilitate EHS strategic initiatives.
Partners with regional and site management to ensure consistent deployment of standards, campaigns and initiatives across the organization.
Supports the development and implementation of the site-specific annual EHS goals to measurably reduce risks and impacts.
Will learn and gain expertise in the company's Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) information management system to manage data related to EHS events such as injuries, workers compensation claims, near miss incidents and internal and external inspections, and environmental permits.
Assists in conducting the risk assessment process to recognize, evaluate, and control hazards throughout the site.
Participates in and facilitates the deployment of environment, health and safety teams (e.g., Safety Committee, etc.) and facilitates their engagement in ownership of the activities required to maintain compliance, reduce the site's environment footprint and drive continuous improvement.
Assists the team-based incident investigation process to help identify appropriate root cause and helps facilitate corrective action measures.
Collects data for reporting and permit submittals for multi-media environmental regulatory requirements.
Successful completion of the Valmont EHS Specialist curriculum within three months of hire.

Assists in the development and implementation of emergency management and business continuity programs.

Assists with training/mentoring to regional/site representatives to strengthen EHS compliance and best practices.
Formulates and implements actions on various EHS topics, as necessary, and shares updates with leadership.
Facilitates the implementation of training programs to ensure regulatory compliance and incident best practices.

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)
Preferred Bachelor's or Associate's degree with 3 years of EHS or related experience, OR 5 years of experience of EHS or related experience.
EHS responsibility with an emphasis on implementation and maintenance of environmental, health and safety programs, fire prevention, sustainability and risk management.
Track record of making effective decisions, even when dealing with limited or ambiguous information.
Ability to lead or support corporate, division, business unit and site teams responsible for managing EHS risks.

Working Environment and Physical Efforts
The primary working conditions for this position is a manufacturing shop environment with exposure to dirt, grease, fumes, cold, heat, noise, dust. There will also be times when EHS Specialist works in an office environment. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses and hard hats may be required in most manufacturing areas and it is the EHS Specialist's responsibility to ensure that all people (employees, vendors, customers, visitors) are in conformance with all safety requirements and that all employees are enforcing the safety requirements consistently and without exception. The incumbent is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time, as well as talk and listen on the phone and in personal conversations or meetings. Environment is fast paced and demanding most of the time.
