Purpose
The Texas Institute for Electronics is looking for an Instrumentation and ControlsTechnician to support the startup and operation of a semiconductor manufacturing facility.
Responsibilities
Install, calibrate, and maintain sensors, transducers, transmitters, and control systems across facilities equipment in a semiconductor manufacturing facility.
Troubleshoot and repair instrumentation and control systems including PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA interfaces. Perform routine and preventive maintenance on control systems to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime.
Support the integration of new instrumentation devices and controls methodologies into existing facility systems, including air handlers, water, waste, chemical, gas, and similar fab facility systems. Assist in the design and implementation of control strategies for facility systems and processes for a semiconductor manufacturing facility.
Configure and tune PID control loops for temperature, pressure, flow, and other process variables.
Monitor system performance and analyze data to identify inefficiencies or potential failures.
Collaborate with facility engineers, technicians, and fab personnel to optimize equipment performance and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Maintain detailed documentation of instrumentation configurations, wiring diagrams, and maintenance logs.
Ensure compliance with safety protocols and industry standards for cleanroom and high-tech manufacturing environments. Provide technical training and support to operations and maintenance personnel.
Participate in commissioning and startup activities for new and existing facility systems.
Other related functions as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Associate's degree or technical certification in Instrumentation, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
3+ years of hands-on experience in instrumentation and controls, preferably in semiconductor or advanced manufacturing.
Proficiency with instrumentation troubleshooting, industrial networking, and control system integration.
Familiarity with cleanroom protocols and semiconductor fabrication processes.
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to interpret schematics and technical manuals.
Experience with data acquisition systems and industrial automation platforms.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

SUMMARY
Repair and maintain building and utility equipment, respond to customer calls, provide support to emergencies, subject matter expert, provide leadership and critical thinking.
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
Subject Matter Expert Lead or under limited supervision performs repairs, troubleshooting, routes and preventative maintenance on various equipment, buildings, and utility systems using one or more craft trade skills. Maintains records of materials, jobs, and other pertinent information. Responds to and triages critical equipment alarms and makes repairs as necessary. Repair and maintain utility systems equipment, such as, pumps, valves, steam systems, vacuum pumps, compressors, water softeners and heat exchangers. Notify management of all recognized equipment repairs. Clean and maintain equipment and work areas.
Engage in collaborative efforts by team members from all craft shops to resolve problems and repair/upgrade deficiencies in the utility systems. Communicate with team members to identify needs for improvement.
Water quality analysis and/or recording of data on: MD Anderson main City of Houston water surge tanks Chlorine testing at EH&S designated locations. Hardness sampling of water softeners. RO/DI sampling of all soft-water systems. Domestic hot water systems. A/C chilled water and heating hot water closed-loop systems.
All completed work meets professional standards of cleanliness, maintenance and safety in accordance with work instructions Coordinates regulatory inspections by external agencies. Coordinates work. May order materials and maintain inventory. Participates in the development of the "Owners Design Guidelines", project design phases and review processes. Inspects contracted work to ensure repairs and installations are compliant. Functions as a point of contact for vendors. Prepares and submits reports. Participates in process improvement initiatives. Purpose
Assist and support engineers and managers in the Advanced Technology Laboratory (ATL) at Applied Research Laboratories (ARL).
Responsibilities
Inventorying, ordering, and tracking parts for NSW deliverable systems. This includes counting and organizing bulk items, requesting quotes by email and phone, submitting purchase orders, providing status updates to engineers and managers, data entry, processing shipping request, and other administrative tasking.

Purpose

Responsibilities
Responds to heating and cooling trouble calls, interfaces with customers, troubleshoots electronic and pneumatic controls systems and components to maintain HVAC comfort control in university buildings.
Performs preventive maintenance and calibrates electronic and pneumatic controls and sensors to prevent failures and to keep the building HVAC equipment operating at optimum performance for maximum energy conservation.
Renovates and upgrades control systems to provide efficient operation of HVAC equipment and improve building comfort.
Assists others as requested to help troubleshoot HVAC and other equipment to limit the equipment downtime and to resolve concerns related to the campus HVAC equipment.
Interprets and works from drawings, specifications, and sketches, for assigned projects to ensure university standards are maintained. Commissions control systems for new and renovation construction projects to ensure final control installation meets standards and functional requirements. Performs work independently from written or verbal instructions and in accordance with established safety procedures to complete tasks in a timely manner.
Researches and recommends repair components and test equipment to assist in procuring components. Creates material lists and acquires materials for efficient work. Keeps accurate records of materials used and maintains daily time reports to efficiently complete work and document details of the functions performed. Assists other shops and team members in the accomplishment of shop goals related to key performance indicators. Assists outside entities. Gathers building HVAC and mechanical field data to facilitate analysis and improvement of HVAC performance. Participates in the On-Call Program.
Required Qualifications
High school or GED. Three years of journey-level experience with the installation, repair, maintenance and operation of pneumatic and DDC instrumentation and control systems. Demonstrated excellent communication skills. Demonstrated ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

Preferred Qualifications
Associates degree in a technical field.
