Purpose
Provide advanced level work associated with pneumatic and electronic instrumentation and control systems to ensure efficient and effective control of building operational processes.
Responsibilities
* Troubleshoots and resolves issues with electronic and pneumatic controls systems and components to maintain HVAC comfort control in university buildings.
* Leads work teams across multiple maintenance disciplines to resolve complex technical control system problems.
* Performs preventive maintenance and calibrates electronic and pneumatic controls and sensors to prevent failures and to keep the building HVAC equipment operating at optimum performance for maximum energy conservation.
* Renovates and upgrades control systems to provide efficient operation of HVAC equipment and improve building comfort.
* Assists other shops and team members in the accomplishment of shop goals related to key performance indicators. Assist outside entities. Provides timely and courteous customer service, keeps supervisors up to date on daily work order status to ensure clear, concise and necessary communication channels are maintained and customer expectations are met.
* Researches and recommends repair components and test equipment to assist in procuring components. Creates material lists and acquires materials for efficient work. Keeps accurate records of materials used and maintains daily time reports to efficiently complete work and document details of the functions performed. Keeps accurate and up to date documentation of all systems.
* Gathers building HVAC and mechanical field data to facilitate analysis and improvement of HVAC performance. Participates in the On-Call Program.
* Perform other job related functions as assigned.
Required Qualifications
High school or GED. Five years of journey-level experience with the installation, repair, maintenance and operation of pneumatic and DDC instrumentation and control systems. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. Demonstrate excellent communication skills. Demonstrated ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

Preferred Qualifications
Associates degree in a technical field. More than five years of journey level experience with the installation, repair, maintenance and operation of pneumatic and DDC instrumentation and control systems. Prior supervisory experience. National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) Level II certification in Industrial Instrumentation or higher NICET Level certification in Industrial Instrumentation. Associated Air Balance Council, or other nationally recognized agency, Test and Balance Technician. Experience at the University of Texas or in a university setting. Demonstrated ability to adhere to safety rules and regulations. Demonstrated ability to handle responses. Demonstrated ability to give a verbal sequence to a response. Demonstrated ability to work well within a team environment. Successful completion of the Leader Development Program.

Purpose
Provide advanced journey level skilled work and project management associated with DDC and pneumatic HVAC instrumentation and controls systems to ensure efficient and effective operation of buildings. Gather and record significant data used for retro-commissioning and the implementation of energy saving programs. Performs journey level troubleshooting, inspections, diagnostic testing, and repairs of mechanical systems in campus facilities.
Responsibilities
Performs commissioning activities on existing building's HVAC, heating and cooling systems. Develops and performs functional testing and calibration of building automation equipment. Utilizes specialized test instruments to measure and verify data being transmitted to the building automation system including airflow, temperature, humidity and pressure. Repairs or replaces mechanical, electrical and instrumentation systems as required.
Assists in planning and executing Test Adjusting and Balancing projects including balancing airflow with a flow hood and performing pitot tube traverses of ductwork. Properly records air flow and equipment data and creates accurate reports.
Works with the other UT maintenance and energy groups to troubleshoot and resolve complex HVAC related building issues.
Interfaces with campus faculty, staff, engineers, vendors, and contractors to resolve building systems problems.
Collaborates with engineers, BAS analysts and energy managers to optimize building automation system programming and sequences of operation.
Uses construction drawings, technical documents and specifications to plan and execute projects and troubleshoot building issues correctly and efficiently.
Composes, reviews, and processes shop and project paperwork, including, but not limited to daily and final project summaries, time sheets, material requests, and work orders.
Works with the other UT maintenance and energy groups to troubleshoot and resolve complex HVAC related building issues.

Ability to replace, repair, calibrate, and configure DDC field devices such as temperature and humidity transmitters, air flow stations, and differential pressure transmitters. Ability to perform high level troubleshooting diagnostics on complex HVAC systems. Three years experience installing DDC systems. International Society of Automation Certified Controls Systems Technician (ISA CCST) Level 1 certification.

Purpose
The Advanced Tactical Systems Division, of the Advanced Technology Laboratory (ATL) is seeking a qualified and detail-oriented Electrical/Mechanical Technician (TSA III) to support the fabrication, maintenance, and testing of specialized electro-mechanical systems. This position involves the assembly of prototype and production units, construction of acoustic arrays, and collaboration with internal teams and external vendors to ensure the delivery of high-quality components and assemblies.
Responsibilities
Fabricate prototype and production electro-mechanical assemblies.
Evaluate and repair specialized electrical and mechanical equipment.
Construct and encapsulate acoustic arrays and cables.
Interpret and apply instructions, schematics, and technical drawings effectively.
Manage part procurement, vendor coordination, and quality control of components and assemblies.
Maintain and update inventory records; perform routine data entry to support tracking and logistics.
Maintain accurate documentation for quality assurance and assembly processes.
Other related functions as assigned.
Required Qualifications
HS/GED.
Two years of experience in the construction and maintenance of specialized electronic equipment using hand and machine tools.
Solid understanding of electronic circuits, wiring, soldering techniques, and the ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word: able to learn features such as formatting, functions, and formulas. Math Skills: Proficient with math operators, rounding, fractions, measurement, area, and perimeter.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), with the ability to create and edit documents, spreadsheets, and emails beyond basic functionality.
Demonstrated ability to follow both written and verbal instructions accurately and consistently.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and with sensitive and confidential information, maintain a professional demeanor, work as a team member with and without daily supervision, work several overlapping projects over a short period of time, ability to work within an environment with rapidly changing priorities, and effectively communicate with all groups of clients. Salary Range

Work in a shared integration lab, with access to machining equipment.
Work in a production environment building assemblies that involve adhesives, potting compounds, solvents, and other hazardous materials.

Patient Care and Prevention Facilities (PC&PF) is fundamental to the daily operations of MD Anderson Cancer Center. The Instrumentation Technician - HVAC / Building Automation Systems (BAS) performs maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting on buildings, equipment, and utility systems using specialized trade skills. Responsibilities include responding to critical alarms, maintaining records, conducting water quality tests, and ensuring systems like pumps, compressors, and heat exchangers operate safely and efficiently.
Ideal candidate will have experience in assisting in the troubleshooting of BAS, alarms, CARFs, computer systems and HVAC systems.

The salary range is $57,500 - $72,000 -$86,500.

SUMMARY
Repair and maintain building and utility equipment, respond to customer calls, provide support to emergencies, subject matter expert, provide leadership and critical thinking.
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
Subject Matter Expert Lead or under limited supervision performs repairs, troubleshooting, routes and preventative maintenance on various equipment, buildings, and utility systems using one or more craft trade skills. Maintains records of materials, jobs, and other pertinent information. Responds to and triages critical equipment alarms and makes repairs as necessary. Repair and maintain utility systems equipment, such as, pumps, valves, steam systems, vacuum pumps, compressors, water softeners and heat exchangers. Notify management of all recognized equipment repairs. Clean and maintain equipment and work areas.
Engage in collaborative efforts by team members from all craft shops to resolve problems and repair/upgrade deficiencies in the utility systems. Communicate with team members to identify needs for improvement.
Water quality analysis and/or recording of data on: MD Anderson main City of Houston water surge tanks Chlorine testing at EH&S designated locations. Hardness sampling of water softeners. RO/DI sampling of all soft-water systems. Domestic hot water systems. A/C chilled water and heating hot water closed-loop systems.
All completed work meets professional standards of cleanliness, maintenance and safety in accordance with work instructions Coordinates regulatory inspections by external agencies. Coordinates work. May order materials and maintain inventory. Participates in the development of the "Owners Design Guidelines", project design phases and review processes. Inspects contracted work to ensure repairs and installations are compliant. Functions as a point of contact for vendors. Prepares and submits reports. Participates in process improvement initiatives. May precept staff. Investigates outages. Interprets and works from instructions, blueprints, sketches and diagrams in the installation of utility systems.
Respond to customer calls Respond to customer calls and provide customer services. Communicate on an ongoing basis with customers and clients to determine current status of deliverables and to learn about customer needs.
Report and Document Provide complete information to accurately document corrective action, labor hours, and materials used on work orders. Timely communication to supervisor of any other issues encountered during the performance of work.

REQUIREMENTS

* Four years of electronic, building automated systems and pneumatic controls experience to include two years of electrical experience. With Journeyman Electrician's license, two years of electronic, building automated systems and pneumatic controls experience to include one year of electrical experience

* Universal EPA, TDLR Certified HVAC License, TDLR HVAC Contractors License, or Electrical License.
