Senior Internal Auditor

MEAG Power is looking for two Senior Internal Auditors as we continue to expand the Internal Audit, and Enterprise Risk Function. The successful candidates will possess:

Summary:
Senior Internal Auditors are primarily responsible for delivering (planning, executing, and reporting) the annual audit plan. Including: special projects, assessing the accuracy of amounts billed through MEAG's joint owner relationships, compliance with the organization's policies and procedures, review of financial and other related information, and assessing the design and effectiveness of internal controls.
Key Responsibilities:
Actively lead engagements from start to completion. Including, planning, executing, and reporting.
Serve as an end-to-end process, risk and controls expert in the development and maintenance of business processes (e.g., flowcharts), risk and control matrix, and advising process and control owners on internal control requirements, risk assessment, control design, and optimization strategies.
Evaluate operational and financial processes to assess risk, internal control effectiveness, overall process efficiency, and provide clear actionable cost-effective recommendations.
Lead and document process walkthroughs to identify and assess controls design / operating effectiveness to ensure alignment with internal control requirements.
Develop and review testing procedures to ensure control evidence is sufficient and appropriately aligned to identified risks.
Coordinate with process and control owners to drive awareness and understanding of control protocols, design standards, and enterprise control strategy.
Lead with a transformational and forward-looking mindset to promote operational excellence, and to enhance governance, risk management, and internal control processes and practices across the organization by adopting best practice methodologies (e.g., risk-based, data analytics, quality assurance etc.).
Apply knowledge of risk and control trends to assess the significance of findings and develop communications with practical risk-aligned recommendations, and root-cause solutions for process improvements.
Lead cost-sharing audits in relations to MEAG Power joint owner relationships, and gather evidence to support any amounts incorrectly billed.
Participate in reviewing MEAG Power's bond offering documentation, and performing quality reviews of financial information prior to release to the public.
Participate in the annual risk assessment process to proactively identify risks and their impacts on objectives and goals to enable the required risk management /audit response.
Other duties as assigned from time to time.
Experience and Qualifications:
Education: Requires a Bachelor's / Master's degree in accounting or related field from an accredited college or university. Relevant professional certification, e.g., CPA, CA, CIA, CFE or equivalent professional certification.
Experience: 5 - 8 years' experience in internal audit, external audit, accounting, finance, risk advisory is required to successfully perform this role. Also, experience performing testing of design and operating effectiveness of controls.
Special Skills:
Deep knowledge and practical application of US GAAP, GAAS, COSO 2013, SOX 404 compliance, ITGCs, entity-level controls, SOC reports, and the IIA's International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF); Strong technical foundation in internal auditing principles, risk assessment methodologies, and control evaluation across operational and IT domains; Skilled in analyzing large datasets using tools such as Microsoft Access and Excel; Proficient in flowcharting and process mapping using Visio; Proven ability to lead and manage multiple complex projects simultaneously; Demonstrates strong organizational, time management, and project execution skills; Adept at simplifying complex concepts into clear, actionable insights; Strong verbal and written communication, stakeholder engagement, and cross-functional collaboration skills; High degree of maturity and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information; Strong Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio) skills.

Manages MEAG Power's procurement activities, including procurement in support of transmission and generation assets; IT; accounting services; and financial services. Scope of Responsibility: This position is responsible for coordinating the procurement activities with all departments across organization, and ensuring appropriate procurement practices and processes are utilized to achieve compliance with MEAG Power's Procurement Policy. Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
General - Develop, lead and oversee the procurement strategies throughout the procurement lifecycle. Implement processes to manage risks impacting the procurement. Exercise sound professional judgement when necessary to the benefit of MEAG Power.
Procurement management - Plan strategies to maintain expenditures within program material budget limitation while maintaining quality standards. Identify best suppliers of equipment related to repair and refurbishment of, and capital investment in, the high-voltage transmission system. Determine best supplier/vendor under Master Purchase Agreements or blanket Purchase Orders for the supply of goods and services on an as-needed basis. Compliance monitoring - Comply with MEAG Power standard Terms and Conditions for the procurement of goods and services. Ensure Terms and Conditions are appropriate for any given purchase, and keeping Terms and Condition up-to-date with industry practices.
Contract negotiation - Establish contractual obligations while complying with Federal, State and Local Laws and Regulations during negotiations. Coordinate with the General Counsel's office for legal review and sign off on legal issues.
Value for money - Negotiate with vendors to ensure the Terms and Conditions of the procurement provide MEAG Power with the best goods and services at the best price and quality.
Quality control - Coordinate with Transmission and maintain the appropriate engineering design standards for the equipment being purchases for the transmission system, and ensure the procurement meets the standards.
Vendor relations - Establish a process to qualify vendors for the supply of goods and services to meet MEAG Power procurement needs. Perform due diligence of all vendors to ensure they are fit to do business with the organization and to safeguard the organization's reputation and brand.
Process optimization - Develop and manage the processes used for solicitation, for example, Requests for Quotations, Requests for Bids, Request for Proposals etc. while working closely with various departments and staff.
Contract management - Ensure all legal contractual documents, Insurance Certificates, etc. are fully executed and are in place for each contract. Perform active contract monitoring, and periodic reviews of evergreen contracts to determine the basis for continuance.
Qualifications:

Summary:
The Director of Generation is a hands-on role responsible for directing activities associated with the construction, operation, maintenance and compliance of the MEAG generation fleet. Ensure the fleet is constructed and operated in an economical manner while ensuring the reliability of the resources. Provide motivation and strong leadership for the Generation staff. Support the Executive Team in developing and implementing the strategic plans. Provide MEAG Participants reliable, low cost electric power resources in a manner that assures that the Participants can remain competitive and receive the maximum value from these assets over the long term.
Scope of Responsibility:
This position is responsible for all aspects of the MEAG generation fleet, including acquiring fuel and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements. Controls and manages all day to day activities associated with the generation fleet including oversight activities that provide for optimization of the resources by the Bulk Power staff. Drives the implementation of the strategic plans for achieving MEAG's long term vision. Serves as MEAG primary representative on joint ownership and industry working groups and committees.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
Directs and oversees the Generation functions that include:
Asset Management - Manage MEAG's 1566 MWs of jointly owned coal and nuclear generation assets and a wholly owned 500 MW gas-fired combined cycle generating unit by monitoring unit operation, maintenance, Operating Agent performance and adherence to contract, plant modifications, and cost. Provide input for and review the preparation of the Operations & Maintenance (O&M) and capital budgets for the generating units. Manage an annual O&M budget of approximately $200 million for the jointly owned and combined cycle units.
Generation Construction - Management of all aspects of site selection, permitting, engineering, procurement and construction of new MEAG self-build generating assets or provide MEAG owner oversight for assets constructed by others.
Fuel Supply - Oversee the procurement, inventory management and risk management of fuel purchases (nuclear, coal and natural gas) for all generating assets. Manage an annual coal, gas and nuclear fuel budget of approximately $200 million and serve as the chairman of the Fuel Risk Oversight Committee (FROC).
Compliance - Ensure that the MEAG generation fleet meets all safety, environmental and reliability compliance requirements. Ensure all filings are complete and submitted in a timely manner. Provide input and influence of new regulatory requirements in all areas working with industry trades, reliability organizations, and co-owners.
Represent MEAG on various O&M, industry, and advisory committees.
Provide support to other MEAG Departments / Functions - budget inputs and review, invoice review and approval, technical issues information, positions, analysis of legislative, regulatory, and industry issues.
Staff Development - responsible for staff development needs and objectives to support company succession planning goals, including hiring, training, and performance management.
Qualifications:
Generally requires a Bachelor's degree in engineering, or equivalent, from an accredited college or university and at least 12 years of experience in the electric utility industry
8 years or more in a management capacity with progressively increasing applicable responsibility.

This position responsibilities will include consults with owners, owner's representatives (consulting engineers), and customers regarding technical matters concerning product application, construction specifications, installation procedures, customer complaints, and other services required to promote the company's products and maintain the end user's satisfaction. THIS CANDIDATE MUST BE RELOCATEABLE TO THE RICHMOND, VIRGINIA AREA.
Specific Responsibilities:
Drives specification inclusion and product promotion through presentations to engineers, municipalities, contractors, and owners.
Supports the sales staff.
Performs field investigations on an as needed basis of customer complaints when the company's product fails to meet the customer's expectations making recommendations as to remedial action required to resolve the source of the dissatisfaction.
Recommendations are also made concerning financial settlements on customer damage claims.
Consults with owners and owner's representatives concerning the proper application of the company products and assists in drafting project specifications incorporating ANSI, AWWA, ISO and other applicable standards.
Assists in design of product systems to meet specific project needs incorporating ANSI, AWWA, DIPRA, ISO, and other applicable design procedures.
This consultation may involve corrosion affects and prevention of the company's products.
Consults with customers (including distributors, contractors, and owner's personnel) on proper application, assembly, and installation of the company's products.
Trains installation personnel in the proper assembly and installation techniques.
Meets with owner's personnel to discuss failures of the company's products to meet performance expectations and participates in mutual resolutions to achieve the owner's expectations.
Consults with various company department heads and advises on service and product shortcomings effecting remedial action as required.
Qualifications:
Requires a BS in Engineering (Civil/Mechanical preferred).
Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate preferred, and a Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred (or ability to obtain).
Waterworks or Public Utilities experience.
Possess problem solving skills
Requires good verbal, written and presentation skills.
Must have the ability to apply standard engineering principles to situations and be able to develop solutions incorporating available products and procedures to minimize customer work stoppage in an economical manner.
Must have a general knowledge of construction equipment and its capabilities, and construction practices and procedures.
Must be able to communicate and negotiate with disappointed people under less than amicable conditions.

Meter Reading:
