Clarification from the agency CURRENT MEMBERS OF THE IDAHO AIR NATIONAL GUARD. Duties Help 1. On a day-to-day basis, analyzes performance, tests, inspects, troubleshoots, identifies and isolates malfunctions, disassembles, modifies or repairs and reassembles test stations or ECM Pods and their associated peripherals. Considers the complex interrelated variables arising from a mix of computer hardware and software, stimulus and measurement systems, and special purpose test subsystems. Analyzes malfunctions using schematics, logic and wiring diagrams, programming tables, computer program flow charts, software user guides, computer program listings and factory drawings. Diagnoses circuit operating characteristics using computer query, system peculiar test equipment, and computer diagnostics. Isolates problems to the failing part using self-test diagnostics, oscilloscopes, frequency meters, signal generators, digital, and differential voltmeters, computer registers and printouts and other special and standard tools and test equipment. Removes and replaces components, assemblies, subassemblies, or parts using special and common hand tools, soldering devices and special electronic instruments. 2. May modify and updates avionics Pods, support equipment and support software according to applicable technical publications. Analyzes program data and determines if the criteria is sufficient to provide adequate testing and troubleshooting. Examines recurring malfunctions and software deficiencies to determine testing voids and initiates corrective action by submission of quality deficiency reports, software deficiency reports or proposed modifications. Devises repair procedures based on findings and recommends program changes, procedural changes, or data corrections to correct software deficiencies. Recommends revisions to intermediate maintenance directives. 3. Connects associated testing equipment to interface the test station system to the aircraft system and or Pod to facilitate maintenance/repair of POD or line replaceable units (LRUs) from the avionics systems such as radar, fire control, instrument, flight control, inertial navigation, malfunction analysis and recording equipment systems. Determines whether failures are caused by the unit under test (UUT), the Pod, the test station, or the test program. If the malfunction is found to be in the UUT, Pod or the test station, isolates it to the specific component(s), disassembles and effects repair by replacing solid state devices, micro miniature modules, gyros, sensors, transducers, and any other required parts, and assembles after repair is accomplished and performs operational tests. If the malfunction is in the test program, informs engineers and/or Air Force Logistics Command (AFLC) of the problem and serves as subject matter expert in providing practical technical assistance in resolution. Ensures compatibility of items with each other and with extenders and interfaces. 4. Works with engineers and technicians in the development and/or modification of software, interfaces, extender equipment or additional items of test equipment and in validation of technical data concerning the repair, maintenance, and test of the test station and units under test. Initiates technical data changes. Suggests means by which a component or system can be tested more economically or thoroughly and provides practical technical assistance by explaining peculiarities of the program or assemblies of the test station, UUT, interfaces, extenders, test procedures, etc. 5. Provides hands-on training instructions to lower grade personnel concerned with repair of computer controlled automatic test equipment, manually controlled test equipment, line replaceable units and aircraft integrated systems. Also provides on-the-job instruction to newly assigned personnel, regardless of grade level. Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations such as Operational Readiness Inspections (ORI), Inspector General (IG) inspections, and Unit Effectiveness Inspections and mobility and command support exercises. May be required to perform such additional duties as structural firefighting, aircraft fire/crash/rescue duty, security guard, snow removal, munitions loading and handling, heavy equipment operator, maintenance of facilities and equipment, or serve as a team member on a board to cope with natural disasters or civil emergencies. Complies with safety, fire, security, and housekeeping regulations. Ensures that material and equipment are properly stored, protected and maintained. Performs other duties as assigned. WG-13: Experience or training demonstrating the ability to repair, overhaul, rebuild, align, and adjust complete multi-systems such as the electronics package in a highly automated aircraft where target acquisition and tracking, weapons control, aircraft attitude control, navigation, and other complex functions are performed by numerous systems which are extensively interconnected with data feedback loops. Applies comprehensive knowledge of all major units of the complete multisystem, i.e., how they function independently, how they are interfaced in the integrated subsystems, and how the subsystems interact to achieve operating specifications.     Job Description The Hangar Mechanic provides onsite maintenance support for Life Flight Network (LFN) aircraft including management of inventory, planning and scheduling aircraft maintenance, maintenance of the base library and LFN owned ground support equipment. This position is also responsible for aviation maintenance including assisting in planning, evaluating, developing, implementing and maintaining services for LFN in compliance with LFN's FAA Part 135 air carrier certificate. QUALIFICATIONS: Completion of two years of an Aviation Science trade or vocational school, or equivalent combination of education and experience Three years as Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic Airframe and Powerplant Certification Inspection Authorization Certification preferred Responsible for having thorough knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations Three years of FAR 135 turbine rotorcraft maintenance experience preferred Three years' experience working for an EMS helicopter program preferred , Maintenance experience on Bell 407 preferred Maintenance experience on Bell 429 desirable Maintenance experience on AW119 desirable Maintenance experience on PC12 desirable Maintenance experience on EC135 desirable Sheet metal/composites experience preferred Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Analytical abilities sufficient to handle complex technical and administrative issues Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external customers Strong work ethic with team-oriented approach Must pass background check and pre-employment DOT drug test Ability to work overtime, evenings, and weekends as needed Excellent verbal and written communication skills Superior customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the organization Able to take initiative to create, implement and improve procedures Travel by personal or company vehicle throughout LFN's service area is required. Must provide proof of auto insurance and meet Driver's Policy requirements ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Inspect and repair aircraft parts, components, and systems Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on aircraft, aircraft systems and parts for base operations Perform inspections of completed work, aircraft systems, and parts based on aircraft schedule Update and maintain maintenance manuals, service bulletins, parts books and regulatory updates, and other technical directives Coordinate ordering, shipping, receiving of parts, supplies, tools, and warranty claims parts Clean and maintain interior and exterior of aircraft Coordinate aircraft maintenance schedules with assistance from the Lead Aircraft Mechanic Maintain upkeep of work area, materials and tools Prepare and maintain documentation related to work activities in accordance with regulations and company policy Ensure all maintenance is accomplished and documented correctly Analyze and troubleshoot technical/inspection issues, providing guidance and resolution of problems Apply mathematical and analytical skills to duties Awareness and support of LFN goals through participation in continuous quality management May be required to travel to LFN operated bases to assist with maintenance as needed. Additional duties as assigned, include maintaining the hangar and shop area and ensuring it is clean and orderly, assisting in aircraft reconfigurations, keeping the exterior of the aircraft clean and assisting the Maintenance Shop Manager as needed.
