Diagnose cause of electrical or mechanical malfunction or failure of operational equipment and performs preventative and corrective maintenance by starting devices to test their performance, observing mechanical devices in operation and listening to their sounds to locate causes of trouble, dismantling devices to gain access to and remove defective parts, adjusting functional parts of devices and control instruments, repairing and replacing defective parts and may install special functional and structural parts. Lubricate and clean parts and equipment and repairs and maintains equipment in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturers' specifications using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring and testing instruments. Examine form and texture to parts to detect imperfections, inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments. May set up and operate lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts. Apply basic electrical knowledge to test electrical equipment to determine causes for malfunction such as motor control devices, switch panels, transformers, solenoids, and other electrical equipment and components according to engineering data and knowledge of electrical principals. Complete training on new and existing equipment and uses applicable reference material and at the direction of the supervisor may be required to use specialized reference material. Schedule: Typical schedule will be Friday to Sunday 5AM-5PM for Weekend Day Shift. Weekend Night Shift is 5PM-5AM. Eligible for Weekend shift premium of $3/hour for day shift and $4.50/hour for weekend night shift. Training may occur on 1st shift during the weekdays.
