AIRFRAME & POWERPLANT MECHANIC - CAMARILLO, CA
The A&P Mechanic at Skyryse will support all aircraft maintenance operations based out of our Camarillo, CA facility. They will serve as the subject matter expert on our rotary-wing, fixed-wing, and experimental aircraft. The ideal candidate will support Skyryse by ensuring all maintenance follows FAA compliance guidelines and regulations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Execute scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on rotorcraft and fixed wing aircraft.

A MECHANIC'S DAY-TO-DAY:
Abide by and maintain all safety procedures as required by Lucky Strike Entertainment and OSHA.
You are responsible for keeping the center equipment in full working order.
Fully understand how to operate all bowling equipment in the center
Adhere to all outlined preventative maintenance programs and monitor and perform daily center maintenance as instructed.
Take charge and ensure the shop and machine area is clean and organized.
Assisting the Senior Mechanic with the training of new Mechanics.

Job Summary
As a Journeyman Mechanic at Naval Base Ventura County (Port Hueneme), you will maintain and repair marine vessels and dockside equipment to ensure safe, reliable operations. You will use your mechanical expertise to troubleshoot engines, hydraulic systems, and other components, performing inspections and preventive maintenance as needed. This full-time contract position (non-union) calls for a mid-career technician (3 5 years experience) who can work with minimal supervision. U.S. citizenship and Secret security clearance are required.
Responsibilities
Perform maintenance and repairs: Conduct scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on boats, shore craft, forklifts, cranes, and other mechanical equipment so that all machinery remains safe and operational.
Troubleshoot issues: Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems using diagnostic tools; determine the best repair solutions.
Replace and repair components: Disassemble and rebuild engines, transmissions, gearboxes, pumps, and related equipment; fabricate or weld parts (MIG, TIG, arc) as needed.
Inspections and safety: Inspect vehicles and equipment for wear, leaks, or safety hazards; ensure all work meets safety and environmental regulations. Adhere to lockout/tagout and other safety protocols, wearing required PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, etc.).
Documentation: Keep clear maintenance records and repair logs to track work done and parts used.
Team coordination: Collaborate with colleagues and supervisors to prioritize tasks and meet operational schedules. Provide guidance to apprentices or less-experienced crew when appropriate.
Qualifications & Skills
Education/Training: High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of a mechanical apprenticeship, technical school, or vocational training in diesel/industrial mechanics.
Experience: 3 5 years of hands-on experience repairing and maintaining complex machinery
Prior experience with marine engines or heavy-duty port equipment
Technical skills: Strong knowledge of diesel and gasoline engines, hydraulic systems, powertrains (transmissions, differentials), and related machinery. Proficient with hand tools, power tools, meters, and common diagnostic instruments.
Reading skills: Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
Driver s license: Valid California driver s license required.
Physical ability: Capable of lifting ~50 lbs regularly, climbing ladders, and working in confined or elevated spaces. Able to work indoors and outdoors in variable conditions.
Security: U.S. citizenship and a Secret security clearance are required.
Soft skills: Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills. Ability to work independently under minimal supervision.

Employment Standards
Possession of a valid Federal Aviation Administration Mechanic Certificate with Airframe and Powerplant Ratings issued in accordance with 14 C.F.R. 65 subpart D, AND:
* Three (3) years of post-certificate/ratings experience repairing, maintaining, and approving the return of turbine-powered helicopters to service; OR,
* A combination of training, education, and experience that is equivalent to the employment standard listed above and that provides the required knowledge, abilities, certificate, and ratings.
NOTE: Three years of pre-certificate/ratings (military experience) repairing, maintaining, and approving the return of turbine-powered helicopters to service can be substituted for the required post-certificate/ratings experience.
Must obtain FAA Inspection Authorization certificate within one year of appointment.
Additional Qualifications:
* Possession of a valid California Class C Driver's License is required at the time of appointment.
* Incumbents may have to obtain a California Class B Driver's License. If California Class B Driver's License is required, incumbent will also need to obtain hazardous materials and tank vehicle endorsements within one year of appointment.

Desirable Qualifications:
* Experience performing maintenance and repairs on helicopter models and series currently operated by Santa Barbara County ASU: Bell OH58/206, Bell UH1H/UH1N/205/212, and Sikorsky Blackhawk Helicopters S70/UH60.
* Experience performing maintenance and repairs on Cessna single engine fixed-wing aircraft.
* Completion of helicopter factory maintenance education or other certified technical training programs, including military aviation maintenance training.
* Possession of FAA Inspection Authorization (IA) Certificate.
* Experience working in Part 145 Repair Station Operations.
* One year of experience providing technical direction to a team of aircraft mechanics in a maintenance setting, including task coordination, troubleshooting support, and return-to-service inspection responsibilities.

Maintains, fabricates, repairs and operates most of these systems in a safe and efficient manner. Works under the general guidance of a manager/supervisor responsible for all operations in the system, for compliance with safety, quality and environmental regulations, providing safe and efficient service in accordance with the demands on the system. Resolves problems that require significant interface with Engineering, Quality, Safety, customers/users, suppliers, and senior management; and implements directives of greater complexity than solely manufacturers' specifications, manuals or other documents. Provides extensive technical guidance to lower level technicians, determining the method and sequence of work processes, transmitting via oral and/or written instructions. This is a union position with the Teamsters and the hourly pay rate is $59.53.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
Directs and controls the operation, maintenance and repair of multiple hazardous propellant, cryogenic and high pressure gas storage and distribution systems. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
High school education, or equivalent, with seven years experience in the same or closely related work.
