The Ride Maintenance Mechanics perform inspections, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and annual rehabilitation of a variety of different amusement rides and attractions. Areas of responsibility include (but are not limited to) maintenance of: gearboxes, chains, sprockets, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, wire rope, hoists, brakes, pumps, and large bearings. Communicates the status of assigned rides both verbally and in written format. OCTA is seeking skilled Mechanics to inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair CNG, hydrogen fuel cell, and battery-electric transit buses. You'll troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems to keep our fleet running safely and efficiently. The starting pay rate for this position is $33.87 an hour. Pay rate increases incrementally according to the union contract. Current top wage is $43.50 after 36 months. Employees that work swing and graveyard shifts are eligible for a shift differential of 3% or 5% of their base pay, respectively. $3 more per hour can be obtained for completion and maintaining the H Series and L2 ASE certifications, with the potential to earn an extra $1 per hour for bidding into a Master Transit Bus Technician slot for a total of up to an extra $4 an hour on top of the base pay. Under general supervision, the Air Conditioning Mechanic performs inspections, maintenance, and repairs and installation of HVAC equipment, and related components.
