The Crisis Center of Tampa Bay brings help, hope, and healing to people facing serious life challenges or trauma resulting from sexual assault or abuse, domestic violence, financial distress, substance abuse, medical emergency, suicidal thoughts, and emotional or situational problems. The Mechanic Apprentice performs basic maintenance, assists the Fleet Manager and the materials department with repairs, learns to use tools and diagnostic equipment, and gradually takes on more complex tasks under supervision to develop their skills and become a certified mechanic. Quickly responds to and diagnose/repair vehicle breakdowns in the field when requested. Assist Fleet Manager with ordering parts, managing inventory, and keeping track of necessary supplies. Build strong partnerships with all fleet business partners and vendors, ensuring that the services, vehicles, and equipment provided satisfy the organization's transportation and equipment needs. Maintain a safe and clean work environment. Participate in mandatory departmental and company meetings as required. Responsibilities: Our Mechanics are responsible for repairing and refurbishing fusion equipment in a distribution plant by performing the following duties: Diagnose, maintain and repair fusion equipment including; small diesel/gas engines, generators, electrical circuits and hydraulic systems Perform quality inspections of rental fusion equipment prior to returning to service Maintain records of service, repairs and scheduled maintenance of rental fusion equipment Inspect and diagnose customer owned equipment to prepare repair quotes Communicate with maintenance coordinator and service advisors on status of down equipment and customer repairs Report machine defects, damages and malfunctions Repair and Service fabrication shop equipment as needed Prepare equipment for shipping Previous experience with computers for order entry, parts ordering and email is a plus Ability to utilize local vendors and/or vendor websites to locate required parts as needed Perform other related duties as assigned Base Qualifications: 3+ years of experience in maintenance or automotive repair preferred Diagnostic ability and Troubleshooting skills Commitment to quality Ability to meet deadlines, work flexible hours, and work in a team environment Interpret technical instructions Capability to use independent judgment and work both independently and, in a team setting. Basic computer skills Physical demands: must be able to lift up to 50lbs on a regular basis, standing, climbing is frequently required. Screening requirements include: A Physical, Drug Screen, and Criminal Background Check.
