Basic qualifications

The incumbent inspects, maintains, and repairs machinery, equipment, systems, buildings, facilities and physical structures. Must be able to assist, under supervision, in other job skills when it is a requisite for job completion. Working with complex blueprints, diagrams, and sketches, and from general verbal and written instructions, according to established operating procedures, performs the following duties while cooperating with all levels within the organization in support of the four Johns Manville core values: People, Passion, Performance, and Protection.

Day to Day:
Uses safe work practices including the use of eye, ear, hand, respiratory, head, and foot protection as needed.
Keeps equipment and work areas clean and orderly at all times by following the principles of 5S.
Works in a professional manner with all employees.
Prepares, reads, interprets, and follows basic blueprints, diagrams, and sketches, making all measurements and calculations necessary to complete job.
Following instructions from the Maintenance Chief or a higher-rated mechanic/electrician, makes minor repairs and adjustments to machinery and equipment as are necessary to keep it in operation. As directed, removes from service machinery and equipment which require major repair or which cannot be repaired while in operation or position. Assists higher-rated mechanic/electrician in making major repairs and reinstalling machinery and equipment. Makes minor and less-complex repairs alone or with assistance.
Assists with general construction, systems work, masonry, carpentry, and painting work using appropriate materials and hand, power, portable, and stationary tools and equipment. May operate mobile equipment. Assists with water treatment and fire protection equipment tests following prescribed methods. Adds materials and makes corrections and repairs based on test results.
Performs all types of available maintenance and repair work that is essential to efficient operation of the plant.
Assists with preventive and predictive maintenance work, as well as troubleshooting and reactive repairs.
During cleanouts and emergencies, performs any duties necessary to get equipment back into operation in minimum time.
Makes welds, brazes, cuts, solders, and silver-solders all grades and types of metal from difficult positions and hard-to-reach locations in an efficient and workmanship-like manner.
Fills out work orders, requisitions, inspection reports, time distribution material usage, etc., and performs other clerical duties necessary to maintain proper records relative to the work performed.
Must possess and maintain the necessary tools for above classification where required and be proficient in their use and care.
Performs other related duties as directed including duties of lower classifications.
Assists with inspections on machinery and equipment while in operation, diagnosing faulty operation.
Determines the extent to which machine parts may become worn without affecting the operating efficiency of the machine, as well as when a defective part should be repaired or replaced. Removes those machines which require major repairs or that cannot be repaired while in operation or position.
Makes necessary repairs to machinery and reinstalls. May remove or install equipment and machinery or make revisions or additions thereto.
As directed, makes revisions and additions to existing systems, performing any necessary pipe fitting or plumbing work. May make repairs to systems under emergency conditions in order to maintain plant operations.
Periodically inspects and makes necessary adjustments or repairs to plant fire protection system, including alarms and auxiliary devices.
Uses hand and power tools of all kinds, as well as a variety of measuring and testing instruments.

RESPONSIBILITIES to include, but are not limited to:
Engine Repair:
Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing common engine issues such as replacing worn-out or damaged components, such as spark plugs, belts, hoses, and gaskets.
Ability to conduct basic engine tune-ups and address minor engine repairs to ensure proper engine performance and longevity.
Proficiency in inspecting and maintaining the radiator, hoses, thermostat, and water pump to prevent overheating and ensure efficient engine cooling.
Ability to diagnose and repair cooling system leaks, flush the coolant, and replace components when necessary to maintain proper engine temperature.
Suspension and Steering:
Proficiency in inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing power steering, wheel alignment, and front/rear suspension components
Proficiency in ensuring vehicle stability through knowledge of tire wear patterns, alignment specs, and system calibration.
Brakes:
Proficiency in the repair of brake systems, including hydraulic systems, disc and drum brakes, power assist units, and parking brakes.
Demonstrated skills in servicing ABS and ESC
Electrical/Electronic Systems:
Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing electrical issues, including troubleshooting wiring problems, testing, and replacing fuses and relays, and addressing issues with lights, switches, and electrical components.
Knowledge of electrical schematics and the use of multimeters and other diagnostic tools to identify and rectify electrical faults in the vehicle's · Ability to use diagnostic tools and scanners to identify and interpret trouble codes, assess sensor readings, and diagnose common vehicle issues.
Heating & Air Conditioning:
Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing HVAC systems including heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and climate control.
Proven ability to handle refrigerants, test system performance, and repair A/C compressors, blower motors, and control systems in compliance with environmental regulations.
These skills correspond to the following ASE Certifications: A1, A4, A5, A6, A7. ASE certifications are not required, and we will help you obtain them during employment.

Job Qualifications
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES)
Post-secondary certificate in automotive industry
Minimum of three years of experience as an Auto Technician
Valid driver's license with satisfactory Motor Vehicle Report (MVR)
Must be able to wear required uniform and required safety equipment (both provided by the company).

SUMMARY
Analyze and install air and hydraulic components based on work plans and blueprints.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Install air and hydraulic components on equipment. Analyze machinery for correct fit and functional operation.
Work with assembly team to plan location of components as to not interfere with electrical, and shields.
Work with team members to solve problems with fit and operation.
Disassemble components and ready them for shipment.
Monitor fitting inventory levels.
Accountable to follow safety and security procedures by using equipment and materials properly.
Consistently maintain a clean well-organized work area.
Work in Project Teams.
Work in other departments as needed. Electrical, mechanical, and shields.
Required to travel to respond to customer's needs when necessary - domestic and/or international (~3-4 times per year)

JOB PURPOSE
This position is responsible for proper care and inspection of shop equipment including company vehicles. Repair used equipment for resale.
LEVEL OF AUTHORITY
Performs routine duties independently in accordance with established policies and procedures.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Most of the work is performed in an industrial, non-climate-controlled environment. The employee may regularly work near moving mechanical parts, in an area with moderate to extreme noise levels. This position requires safety shoes and appropriate PPE.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Disassembles and reassembles tractors and combines during the repair process.
