The Fleet technician 3 will diagnose, adjust and repair all series of class 8 tractor and trailing fleet equipment including, but not limited to the following: diesel engines, electrical, brake, cooling systems, transmissions (manual and automatic), clutches, differentials, power dividers, starters, alternators, air conditioning systems, DPF systems, aftertreatment devices, fan clutches, engine electronics, power steering systems, and steering. Conduct Preventive Maintenance (PM) services and repair tires as needed. Essential Job Functions: Comply with all safety and best practices and follow company Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). Demonstrate proficiency in the repair and diagnosis of - with no assistance: diesel engines, power train to include differentials, transmissions, clutches, drive shafts, wheel ends. Electrical systems including starters, alternators and lights. HVAC systems. Steering systems. Electronics to include ECM's, ECU's, sensors etc. Engine bolt on items such as turbos, fan clutches, cooling system etc. Brake systems including ABS & air disk brakes. Suspension systems (spring and air) including tire issues, and after treatment devices such as DPF and DOC. Perform electrical system repairs, cooling system maintenance and preform complete vehicle diagnosis. Performs all levels of preventive maintenance services on truck and trailing equipment. Perform mechanical and general appearance reconditioning of equipment for "trade-ins" and prepare new equipment for delivery. Must be annual vehicle inspector certified and brake inspector certified (per DOT requirements). Successfully demonstrate welding skills (mig, tig) in non-standard situations and on varying materials as needed. (AU and steel) Advanced skills with diagnostic software for Detroit DD15 engines, and DEF/after treatment repairs. Proficient with windows-based computer systems and ability to use diagnostic software. Identify and perform warrantable repairs and document on repair order. Use hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, and precision instruments, as well as power tools such as pneumatic wrenches, welding equipment, and jacks and hoists. Maintain work area appearance and safely. Road test vehicles when necessary to diagnose malfunctions or to ensure that they are working properly. Perform duties with no supervision and in a timely and efficient manner. Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and machinery. Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test instruments such as handheld computers, motor analyzers, chassis charts, and pressure gauges. Examine and adjust protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices. Inspect and verify dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to factory specifications. Specialize in repairing and troubleshooting of major components such as engine, transmissions and differentials and fifth wheels, to include replacing complete assemblies, turbochargers, fuel system components etc. Other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor. Provide directions and repair instructions and to mentor other technicians as needed. Ensure compliance with DOT standards and properly document work completed. Proficiently enter and process all transactions within the maintenance system. Assist the with fleet analyses, action development and stances. Complete or assist with miscellaneous projects as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 6 years practical experience with tractor trailer maintenance required. High school diploma or equivalent required. Vocational / Technical or certification preferred. Demonstrated customer service and relationship building skills. Expert understanding of fleet maintenance policies, DOT standards and industry practices. Organized with the ability to deal with multiple activities in a fast-paced environment. Specialized training and experience in the diagnosis/troubleshooting of major components (engines, transmissions, differentials), OEM training courses required (FRTL or INTL), ASE Certification preferred, and 608/609 certifications preferred. Proficiency in the use of all tools of trade (including welding equipment, diagnostic equipment, hand and power tools) required. Clean MVR required and able to operate service truck preferred. Strong work ethic. Excellent communication skills. Must be able to communicate in English, both verbally and written, and can read and understand English. Job Title: Mechanic FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Frontier Railroad Services, LLC is a railroad construction company based in New Stanton, PA performing new construction and rehabilitation for customers in the Eastern United States. SUCCESSFUL INDIVIDUALS ARE WILLING TO WORK AS A TEAM AND TAKE A HIGH DEGREE OF PERSONAL SATISFACTION IN A HARD DAY'S WORK. Job Description This individual will be responsible for working in an outdoor environment repairing and maintaining railroad construction equipment. Essential Functions: Troubleshoot and repair equipment - electrical, hydraulic, diesel and mechanical. Provide training and technical knowledge on full range of equipment. Perform scheduled preventive maintenance activities on equipment. Provide clear work order documentation and reports when needed. Ensure compliance in all railroad, safety, health, and environmental regulations, policies and procedures for a goal of zero incidents and injuries. Report to the Project Superintendent with a dotted line to the equipment manager. Overall responsibility for keeping all machine running efficiently. Stay in constant contact with the equipment manager and have E/M order parts as needed and as frequently as required to keep the gang up to optimal performance. Perform all repairs as necessary both emergency and permanent repairs on a daily basis. Maintain a set of tools required to perform the work. Ensure that all equipment operators perform greasing, safety and oil checks daily and that records are maintained in accordance with FRA regulations. Overall support for the gang as necessary inclusive of operating a machine in emergency situations. Report to the E/M every night on the needs for the following day/turns. Provide support as needed to move equipment from jobsite to Jobsite. Perform other duties as assigned. Additional Responsibilities: Evaluate and make recommendations regarding required repairs. Provide a high level of communication with home office and supervisory staff. Employee is responsible for supplying steel toe boots and mechanic's tools. Qualifications: Minimum of 2 years of field service or mechanic experience. You must have your own basic mechanic's tools. Prior work experience in an outdoor setting including excessive heat and cold. Must have experience with troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining heavy equipment. Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic and electrical assemblies and testing experience. Capable of reading variable schematic logic for both low / high voltage electrical and a variety of hydraulics. Mechanic Required Skills/Abilities: * Must possess at least 1 year of experience with general knowledge of equipment theory, principles and repair relating to diesel engines, air, and electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems. * Must possess at least 1 year of experience with general knowledge of tractor and trailer maintenance, DOT rules and regulations, company policies and procedures. General Purpose The Heavy Duty Truck Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance and repair of a fleet of heavy-duty trucks, with a special focus on tractor-trailers. The role is crucial for ensuring that the fleet remains in optimal working condition and meets all safety standards. Essential Functions Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting on heavy trucks and equipment to identify and address mechanical problems.
