Operates brake and machine lathes and other mechanical tools and equipment. Welds and cuts for maintenance, repair and manufacture of equipment. Utilizes computerized diagnostic equipment and associated technical software, such as JPRO, Snap on MODIS, Cummins INSITE, and Allison DOC. Responds to road service vehicle and equipment breakdowns. Reads, interprets and utilizes flow charts, schematic diagrams and equipment manuals in both hard copy and electronic/internet format. Orders parts for maintenance and repair. Maintains cleanliness of shop and working order of shop equipment. Assists other mechanics as assigned. Reports to work for on-call after hours needs, as assigned. Other duties as assigned. Required Minimum Qualifications/Desirable Qualifications MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS High School diploma or GED equivalent. Three (3) years previous mechanic work experience. Master truck or auto certificate. Master ASE certification or the ability to obtain within one (1) year in position. CDL license with A and N endorsements and no restrictions from operating a vehicle with air brakes within one (1) year in position. Basic proficiency with office computers and intermediate proficiency with electronic diagnostic equipment and related software. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Associates Degree in Automotive Service Technology. ASE Certification(s). EVT Certification(s).
